Question about D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DI-624 Wireless Router (DI624RE)

1 Answer

Connection/setup problem I went through the steps to setup it i.e. unplug the cable router, plug the one end of cord to it and then power the router back up and then plugged other end to the wireless router. Then connected the computer to the wireless router in port 1 and then restarted the computer which it said to do in the guide after trying to see if the computer saw the connection which it didn't. It didn't for alot of times and but one time it worked and the computer could go on the internet and then i put the router address in the internet browser and the dialog came up with the password and the user login, its was a pre-used network in the house, so there was a password and i couldn't get it. So i resetted it and the wlan light went out and following those steps i said before, can't get back to the dialog. Thanks, if you tried to help

all the lights that need to be on are on for the computer connection and the computer can't seem to pick up the internet or the network but let when i connect it to the router, its connects to the internet fast

and for the laptop part of it, its doesn't show up on the avaible wireless connections and the wlan light is 100% off and doesn't come on.

and i forgot to tell in the last post but anytime i unplug the router power cord, and plug it back in, its seem to have trouble getting the phone connected and its take like 3 mins to get it back and could that show that the router not being to find the internet

You are not trying to log onto another network. Your router should connect you to your ISP and the internet, through the modem you are using. If you have a laptop enabled with wireless internet card and you are trying to log onto the network supported by your new router, you can click on the network icon on you computer and get it to scan for available networks. Once you see the network you just created with your new router, you enter the SSID, password and IP address you used in setting up the router. Hope this helps

How do I password reset

Hi Kim,

If you are unable to access the setup page of the router because you have lost or forgotten the username / password combination of the router, you will not be able to do so without setting the device to the factory condition. This means that any special settings that have been set will be lost. Before explaining the simple procedure to perform the reset - you may want to try accessing the setup page with the factory defaults:

Point or click your browser to http://192.168.1.1. If you haven't changed the default, this should bring you to the setup page. Otherwise, input the router address (if known). At the promt for the username and password, enter "admin" for both (no quotes) and click on the "Login" button. If you are not allowed into the router setup or do not know the setup page address folow these steps:

Note: Prior to connecting the router, be sure to power off your computer, DSL/Cable modem, and the router. You should setup the router with a wired connection first before attempting to setup any wireless connection.

Since your router has been previously configured, you should start from scratch by disconnecting all cables - except for the power cord. Then, reset the router by holding in the reset button at the back of the router for 10 seconds while it is plugged in and powered ON. Allow the router to sit undisturbed for a minute and then disconnect the power cord from the router. The router is now in the factory state and can be configured as described below:

Step 1 Connect one end of a network cable to the WAN port of the router and connect the other end of the cable to the DSL/Cable modem.

Step 2 With another network cable, connect one end of the cable to your computer's network card and connect the other end to one of the LAN (Ethernet) ports of the router.

Step 3 Power on the DSL/Cable modem and wait for the lights on the modem to settle down.

Step 4 Power on the router by connecting one end of the supplied power adapter to the power jack of the router and connecting the other end to an electrical outlet.

Step 5 Power on your computer.

Step 6 Make sure the WAN, WLAN, and the LAN port that the computer is connected to are lit. If not try the above steps again.

Follow the configuration as described in the manual linked here.

I hope this helps & good luck!
