FN keys doesn't work?

Hi, i can not activate the FN keys after format...downloaded all utilities but it doesn't work...how can i do it?

After have been update from windows Xp to Vista function key not

Hi there,
From what you've mentioned, you have to install a TOSHIBA Hot-key utility that corresponds to the function or other utilities for specific tools. if you have the user manual of your machine it might help.
You can find them on Link, model is L635-S3025, this utilities will work on most L635 regardless of what model. After installing each utility try to press the function key try if it works, until all keys are working. not all utilities are key based some utilities work for protection or notification.

Hopefully this information helps and may you fix the problem.

is it just the FN key that is not working or when you press FN+ another key combination that is not working

because usually the Fn key is used along side another key from the top row

Hi,
You will need to install the Fn-Utility from the Toshiba website. You can find the drivers here for your speciically laptop:
http://sell.toshiba.com/partners/b2b/download-center/find-downloads.jsp
Once you have installed the Fn-Utility, you can enable/disable the trackpad using the keys Fn+F9.

There will either be a switch on the side of the machine or it will be fn and one of the funtion keys, look for an image like this:

Fn key

Try installing the "Sony Shared Library" and the "Sony Notebook Control Device Drive".

First install the Sony Shared Library, restart the Computer and then install the "Sony Notebook Control Device Driver" (restart the Computer again).

NOTE: Sony Shared Library is the system component which makes the download and installation of Drivers and Applications compatible with the Computer. While "Sony Notebook Control Device Drive" is utility which will enable the Function keys in the Computer.

The Sony Shared Library will be listed under "System Components - 1 file(s)" and Sony Notebook Control Device Driver will be under "Notebook Control and Utilities - 1 file(s)".

Try to uninstall then re-install the Dell Quickset from the Drivers and utilities disc.

Hi,
Usually driver installation for branded PC's are much tedious than the assembled one. Download the drivers for your laptop model from Dell website and try to install in the following order as one driver is dependent on other drivers.
1. chipset
2. Microsoft UAA ( download it from here )[important step]
3. Audio driver
4. Graphics driver
5. Modem driver
6. Wireless device driver
7. utility drivers like function key drivers, synaptics mice driver, etc
Restarting your system in between each of these steps is mandatory.

I have sony vaio vgn-fs980 labtop, and keyboard is not working correctly. None of the buttons are working and if I click on any button, weird consequences of symbols, alphabets and numbers come up. I've tried Function Key and Num Lock key, and also tried Ctrl, Alt and Num Lock, but not working. Please advise.
