I would try a reset and firmware update first. To Reset the unit hold the Page and Enter keys down while you power up the unit. hold them down until you get a prompt asking you if you really want to reset.
Garmin has a free software called webupdater. this will put the latest software in your unit. If there is a GPS chipset software available please apply that also. It will be in the list when you run webupdater.
You may want to try an external antenna also to see if an internal connection came loose.
Update/Reload your unit's GPS and sytem software via Garmin page or use
Web Updater. Your unit will be functioning again. This problem also
occurs if you leave your unit on a dash board in a car and it is
exposed to hight temperature.
place the GPS outside with a
clear 360 degree view of sky or as much of the horizon as possible and
leave it for a few hours it needs to download the almanac from all satellites before doing this
from the Acquiring Satellite page press menu and make sure that the topline of the menu reads "Use With GPS off" if it reads "Use With GPS on" (this means it will not find any SAT's ie for indoor use) press enter to turn the GPSReceiver on
Try a re-load of the chipset driver. It is available from the Garmin website. I find that it occasionally becomes corrupt. You can check by entering the "Main Menu" then "Setup" then "System" then press Menu and choose "Software Version". If the "GPS SW Version" is 0.00 then a reload of the chipset driver will correct the problem.
After you have loaded it on your 60CSx, you should be good to go. Just turn it on like you normally do and now you'll see your device retrieving locks w/ the satellites.
Go to the Garmin Web site's home page, avoid staring to long at the hot chick and click on "On The Trail" .. "Mapping Handhelds" .. scroll down to the second row far right and click on the 60CSx. You will then see the 60CSx page, look to the right and click on "Updates & Dowdloads", on doing so you will now see four downloads to choose from. The one you will need is "GPS Chipset Type G Ver. 2.90 as of Nov 27, 2006" if you follow this you shouldn't have any problems. If however you do i'll keep an eye on this page and try to help, this is my first GPS and also had the same issue.
