Text alerts I have lost the manual to my phone and can't figure out how to turn off the message alert on my phone. It beeps when i get a new text message and i need to silence it. please help

Pleace go to your phone menu and then select profile and open it then you see ring tone,ring tone volume,massage alert,massage tone,etc open massage alert and off it.

Step 1! Go to Settings>Sounds>Text Tone and verify you have a sound set!
Step 2! Go to Settings>Notification Center>Messages, and select alert style to be bannert or alerts... You can figure it out from here!
Does anyone know how to turn the message alert on so that it repeats every few minutes until its viewed. I went under general settings and turned the alert on to every two minutes but it does not work. HELP PLEASE
your phones alert tone was set to beep once, to change this go to profile settings then open the activated profile such as general>personalize>message alert tone then now choose the ring tone you want to use as message alert tone..

To hear an alert when you receive a new message: 1. Press Menu > Settings/Tools > Settings > Messaging > Message Reminder. 2. Select On or Off and press .

You need to disable Call Alert in your Voice Command settings...go into menu - settings - more - application settings - voice command. The last option on the list will be Call Alert, change to ring only.
open 'profiles'. It will be inside ;menu' or 'settings' option. after selecting profiles, select 'personalize' and chose the new message alert tone from your gallary.... after that activate your profile.. your ringtone has been changed
You can change the text message alert tones but you have to do it by accessing the phone's file system via a data cable connected to your computer. Goto lg-vu.com and search for text alerts and you'll find detailed instructions on how to do it.
I think that there is just a generic message alert tone setting applies for both vm and text. If your voicemail alert tone and message alert tones are the same, this is probably the case. I have searched the menu on my phone and haven't found any setting to change vm tone specifically.
In order to use tones other than the presets for text messages, you have to put new .WAV files on your phone.
Any 8bit .WAV file will work; just connect with ActiveSync and navigate to your /Windows directory on your phone, and place the files there.
You will then be able to use them as text message alert tones.
