CAnnon Powershot A630 LCD screen will not light up when trying to take a pic. I can, however view old pics that I've already taken.

First press the DISP or DISPLAY button to see if that corrects the problem. If not, a stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).
To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

I cant figure out how to delete a picture on my camera

Have you read your manual? To view your pics, just press the right facing arrow button. To delete one, just press the button with the garbage can icon and follow the on-screen instructions.

My memory card is in my camera, but when it takes a picture and i put my memory card in the computer to view the pics, there's nothing on the memory card. what's wrong

A few things... Make sure that the card is the one recommended for the camera. Can you play back a picture which you have taken? That needs to be checked first. Put the card in the camera, take a picture then view it on the camera's LCD. If you can see pictures, then some thing is wrong on the computer and the way it is reading the card.

Sounds like your computer or the software program you're using to download your pics is set to automatically erase the card after the download.

My camera was a waste of money if i cant load the pictures i take onto my computer

i have the same camera..when it does that, your computer should be searching for new hardware so you can view your pictures. depending on what you use to view your photos(e.g. kodak easyshare,is where you will view the pictures you have taken prior to plugging in the camera. If there is nothing to view you then its obvious you have taken no pics.

Stuck on standby

The sliding button above the LCD display has three settings. You need to slide the button to the right, A camera icon for taking pictures, a movie camera in the middle and the green arrow on the left to view pictures and movies taken

I see nothing in the Viewfinder...

The camera has a mirror lock up feature for cleaning the CCD sensor. You may have engaged it. Check your manual about this function
