is it possible to replace a new knob yourself?
i see you can buy a knob online for about 15 bucks, but is it possible to replace the knob yourself?

There should be a metal bit in the middle of that switch housing, sorta like the spindle on the platter, it should have one flat edge just get some pliers and twist the metal bar in the middle clockwise, until you replace the switch that will be the only way to swtich it off and on.

ive done this before many times, and sometimes in clubs the decks are in bad shape, so i always bring pliers, just in case!

My powerswitch on the sl 1200 is pushed in how do i pull iit out?

Basically you dont.
You will need to replace the power knob which comes complete with the brass rod that goes through the strobe housing. To do this you will need to remove the base of the deck - be carefull not to lose the spring and ballbearing.

SL-1200 Turntable: My brand new Technics 1200 MK2 sounds wobbly when ...

Try plugging it into a different power point. The problem is with the power supply fluctuating. You can eliminate that with a UPS, here is a link to wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uninterruptible_power_supply

Help for technics 1200 MK2 and 1210 Speed is too fast

On the 1200MK2 the pitch control slider is for just that purpose. Disregard the 0 setting and use the illuminated strobe marks on the platter to adjust to nominal speed. When they appear to be motionless you are there. The control on the 1210 may be a knob but the same principles apply.

Hi, I have recently purchased a pair of technics 1200 mk2 turntables. One works fine but the other skips, even though I have tried adjusting the height of the arm and adjusting balance etc, no combination...

there may be a weight missing on the arm , look at the other one to see the parts on that arm and make sure they are exactly the same nothing missing , otherwise there may be something wrong with the armitures guide
try tape on a penny then put it on top of the arm and see if it still skips

What is the best way of cleaning your whole tone arm and hight adjustment on a technics 1200 mk2 as just brought second hand one and works great but very dirty thanks dj fluant-c

Use common sense when cleaning. Don' t use water. Instead I find Windex works well. Just spray enough to loosen up any dirt/grime build up. DO NOT OVERSOAK. And just wipe clean. There really is no real trick to cleaning these things.

Get yourself some cotton swabs, a can of air, and paper towels, and your all set.

Technic 1200 mk2 turntable wont spin

need to know if it powers up. Does it try to spin, do you hear it trying to spin? More than likely the on/off switch went bad. No, I am not referring to the ON/OFF knob. THere is a switch this engages when turned. The part is S601. You might also want to replace the Start/Stop switch as well. If neither work, then the issue is on the main PC board, and probably IC101, or IC201 with the problem. At this stage, you will have to have a service tech look at your unit.
