LG Tromm Washer

My washer smells like mold and mildew. I have to wash everything twice or more and the towels are the worst. I never let anything sit there for anytime so that is not a problem. We noticed that water seems to be sitting under a rubber ring (around the door on the inside of the washer). the machine is less then two years old and wehave been having this problem for close to a year now. I have the LG Tromm front loader and honestly at first I thought it was the coolest! We bought it after losing everything to the murky, stinky waters of Hurricane Katrina. Thanks to this washer...we are reminded everytime we wash our towels and clothes, of guess what...yep... the murky, moldy, dank, disgusting Katrina WATER! UGGGGGH! We should not have to run special products or cycles to make this EXPENSIVE washer run like your average top loader. My towels are ruined and my new house always smells dank! Disgusting. I think there should be a recall!

Wash empry with detergent and double bleach with extra hot water. When cycle is complete open the door to the washer and let airdry. When you close the door with it wet it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria. You may also not be using the correct detergent or the correct amount of detergent.

I have a Tromm Washer and Dryer. Washer cycle time taking twice as long as time on indicator. Mildew smell still there after I have cleaned filter and run wash cycle. Drum vibrates horribly on spin...

You may have a problem with the motor sensor. Replace the motor sensor and it should take care of the problem. As for the mold issue, purchase some washing machine cleaner and follow directions. It should take care of most of the smell issue. Good luck

Awful smell! I drain it every cycle, I use the washer cleaner, everything! I am so sick of my towels smelling awful.

Sounds like the little flexible apron just in front of your washer drum has mildewed. Take a look and see if it is holding water, and look for mold while your'e at it. Use a good bathroom mold and mildew remover to kill the mess and deodorize it.

Odor problems with whirlpool front load washer

Is the smell of mildew?

Run the washer on empty with beach and soap.

This is a common problem when the front door is left closed after use.

When the washer is not in use leave the front door cracked open. This will help in preventing mold & mildew.

Our towels and clothes have a mildew/musty smell. when I spin the stainless drum inside, i can hear water sloshing around.

Towel mildew odor is transferred from the washer to towels and clothes. The washer must be cleaned first. After cleaning the washer and towels washing habits must change to stop mold smell from returning.

Washing machine mold / mildew is caused by:
#1 cause is overuse of detergents. Detergent companies are notorious for instructing to use too much detergent. Especially with soft water or when using liquid detergent no more than 1 tbsp of any detergent should be used.
#2 most common cause is using fabric softener because it's dispensed in the rinse cycle and will coat the inside of the outer tub with residue that is a food source for mold to grow.
#3 using only cold water for washing is fine but makes preventative maintenance very important. A weekly hot soak will dissolve odor-causing residue from inside your washer.
#4 not using the washer. If the clothes washer isn't used very often maintenance is especially important. If leaving for a vacation it's a good idea to clean your washer. Do a search to "remove washer odor" to read just how big the problem is. There are all natural washer cleaners that will also remove mildew odor from towels and clothing after the washer has been cleaned.

You have to kill the mold. To do that mix one cup of clorox liquid bleach into one quart of water and wipe all aroung the rubber. Let it dry and do it again. That will solve your problem

LG TROMM - awful smell while washer is running

Use the aafesh tablets as instructed, this will clear hoses that have developed some mold, also inspect drain at the wall, these get moldy and as machine runs, smell comes out of there as well.
