Following are instructions for the GE25881 phone which is similar to your 25880. Hopefully this will work for you. -Vish Answering System Set Up This section shows you how to set up your answering system to receive incoming calls. Before you begin the setup, you must turn on the answering system. ? Press the conference/ans on/off button to turn the answering system on and off. NOTE: The display shows ANSWERER OFF when the answering system is off. The default status is on. Voice Instructions If you need additional assistance, press and hold the memo button on the base and follow the voice instructions. 12 Answering System Operation Recording the Outgoing Announcement For best results when recording, you should be about nine inches from the microphone, and eliminate as much background noise as possible. 1. Make sure the answering system is ON. 2 . Press and hold the announce button on the base while you record the announcement. 3. Begin speaking after you hear the beep. 4. Release the button after you finish your announcement. If you choose not to record an outgoing announcement, the default announcement plays. To return to the default announcement after you have recorded your personal announcement, press the delete button on the base while playing the announcement, or press the announce button and release it when you hear the beep.

Need to delete old voice message, can someone help

Erasing Messages

The unit will announce the remaining recording time after playback, if it is less than
5 minutes. New messages cannot be recorded when:
— “Memory full” is heard.
— “ ” is displayed on the base unit.
— ANSWER ON indicator flashes rapidly (only when the Answering System is on).

Erase some, or all, of the messages in a mailbox. We recommend you erase unnecessary messages after each playback.

Erasing a specific message
Press [ERASE] while the message you want to erase is being played.
• A short beep will sound and the unit will continue to play the next message.
Press [ ][4] while the message you want to erase is being played.
• A short beep will sound and the unit will continue to play the next message.

Erasing all messages in the mailbox
1. Press the soft key ( ).
2. Press the soft key ( , or ).
• If Mailbox 2 or 3 has a password, enter it (p. 51).
3. Press [ ][5] to erase all messages in the mailbox.
• A long beep will sound and “Mailbox (No.)” and “No messages” will be heard.
• To end remote operation, press [OFF].

I hope you rate this solution. Thank you and goodluck!

Message Box is full. How do I erase?

Erase Messages
Single Messages
You can erase a message itself, leaving the Caller ID information.
• While the message is playing, press and release DELETE. The unit erases the current message and announces, "Message erased."
All Messages
You can also erase all the old messages only, leaving the new messages and Caller ID information.
While the unit is in ready-to-answer mode, press and hold DELETE until the unit announces, "Messages erased."
• New messages can not be erased in this way. To erase new messages, play them then press DELETE during play back.

Recording messages

Manual is online:
http://www.fixya.com/support/p129719-ge_29869ge2_digital_answering_machine/manual-13322/page-3

A warning I'll pass on that I just learned:
I just lost 57 special messages that I had saved for years to follow up on, and learned the hard way (if you haven't come across it yet):
From page 6 of manual:
INSTRUCTIONS FOR MOVING THE ANSWERER...
3. Go to the electrical outlet and unplug the power supply. DO NOT UNPLUG THE POWER JACK CONNECTED TO THE UNIT. If you do, all memory will be erased.
I wasn't even moving it to another place, the jack just came a little loose while moving it around the table, and all the messages disappeared. A very poor detail in an otherwise (in my experience) well-designed machine. Manual's page 6 covers this: http://www.fixya.com/support/p129719-ge_29869ge2_digital_answering_machine/manual-13322/page-6

Cordless Phone

You did record a message on the answerer, didn't you? Mine displayed that until I recorded the outgoing message for the answerer. You do not need any service from your phone provider. The answerer in the base unit simply records the caller's message when you don't answer after a set number of rings. The manual tells you how to name the handset, which is a nice feature if you don't wish to use "unit 1, unit 2, etc".
