I have a 1997 Rodeo so I'm not sure it is the same, but if your waterpump is located under the timing belt cover like mine is and is driven by the timing belt ...

1) Remove the upper fan shroud
2) Remove the (4) nuts then the cooling fan assembly
3) Remove the power steering drive belt
4) Remove the air conditioning compressor drive belt
5) Remove the generator drive belt
6) Remove the fan pulley assembly
7) Remove the crankshaft pulley
8) Remove the oil cooler hose
9) Remove the timing belt cover
10) Remove the timing belt pusher
11) Mark where the timing belt is currently seated in the cam and crankshaft gears (be real sure you know what you are doing here!!!)
12) Remove the timing belt
13) Drain the radiator
14) Remove the waterpump

The drive and guide rollers are probably drying out and won't grab the paper. Take the drive roller of and treat it with a rubber restoring compund. The roller should not come off easily.

I WAS THINKING ABOUT PUTTING AN OPEN BELT DRIVE PRIMARY ON MY FLHRC WOULD THERE BE AN ADVANTAGE WITH LESS VIBRATION OR ?

Open belt drives are for one thing and, in my opinion, one thing only, looks. Personally, I wouldn't have one. They look plain dangerous to me.

The biggest problem people have with them is belt breakage. Harley came out with two models that had dual belt drives, the Surgis models and the FXDG "Disc Glide" in 1984. Both models used the same type of belt drive which was a fairly narrow belt. Owners were plagued with belt breakage problems and some even converted the bikes to chain drive like the rest of the bikes Harley made had on them.

I'm sure belt drives have improved since then but as to what the advantages of a belt drive is over a chain drive, I have no idea. Some say that it reduces maintenance, a claim that I don't buy. My vote is against it but then, It is your bike.

The accessory drive belt for 2.0L engines has no provision for manual belt adjustment, since these engines use an automatic belt tensioner. Drive belt slack is taken up by the automatic tensioner.
Movement of the automatic tensioner assembly during engine operation is not a sign of a malfunctioning tensioner. This movement is the tensioner self-adjusting and is required to maintain constant belt tension.
The belt tensioner has a belt length indicator. If the indicator marks are not between the MIN and MAX marks, the belt must be replaced.
