When I take a picture it goes to internal memory and not to my sd card. What is wrong?

First, make sure you're using a supported card. The C340 works with MMC and SD cards. If your card is larger than 2GB then it's actually an SDHC card and won't work.

If you do have a supported card, make sure the image storage location is set to Auto. In the Review mode, press the Menu button then select Image Storage (camera and memory card symbol).

Transfering photos back to memory card

Hi, Welcome to FixYa.

You can do it through your laptop's card reader or using a card reader device.

Take your memory card out from the camera and put it in the
adapter(a card holder) given to you. Now you can use it in Laptops
in built-in card reader/ card reader device.
If the SD memory card is read only this will not work, otherwise
this way you can copy photos to Card very easily. Also you can copy
photos from memory card in the same way

Oh yeah, it sure does sound like sand. Sure death to zoom lenses. Kodak will not cover this under warranty either. Unfortunately, Kodak will not sell parts to anyone so you are going to have to deal directly with them.
