You have a Gateway laptop, only HP and Compaq computers have Expansion Port 3 because that port is a registered trademark under HP which also owns Compaq so that is why. Sorry you should sell it though, if its new it runs around $60. Hope I Helped!

My gateway laptop cant connect to the internet. _When I plug a cable, the red light in the port does not respond _ The WIFI does not respond

Hello John,
It seems that: 1. Your LAN controller and the WiFi controller could be disabled in your BIOS setup. To re-enable them, if applicable,
  • Press the F1(or F2 ) key repeatedly after restarting the computer to enter the BIOS setup.
  • Navigate through your BIOS and locate the settings for LAN conroller and wireless, and select Enabled to enable them.
2. You may not have the appropriate drivers installed on your laptop for your network controllers. Upon further investigation, your laptop runs on the following network hardware:
  • ActionTec IEEE 802.11b network card installed in Mini PCI expansion slot
  • Broadcom BCM94306 IEEE802.11g network card installed in Mini PCI expansion slot
  • Broadcom BCM94300 IEEE802.11a/g network card installed in Mini PCI expansion slot
Download and install your drivers for the hardware above from: Wireless Drivers(Broadcom BCM94306) from http://www.soft32.com/download_175098.html Broadcom BCM94306 10/100Mbps LAN drivers from http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/downloaddrivers.php
Hope this solution helps.Good day.

LAN port #3 <--- Ethernet cable --> network-port on desktop/laptop computer #3.

Hi,
You need s-video cable or VGA cable (if VGA ports are available on your laptop and TV) to connect your laptop to the tv.Connect the one end of your cable to your laptop port and another end to the tv port.and then set your tv to s-video mode.

No problem

I can't find any decent photos of your laptop online so I can't see what you're seeing, but it may be one of several things:

1) A PCMCIA or Express Card slot - this is a flat, long slot that usually has a dummy plastic "card" in it. You put wifi, network, sound, modem, video capture etc. cards in here

2) A smartcard reader - often located just under an express card slot - is a very thin slot where you put a business-card like ID card which can authenticate you, like a fingerprint. When you take it out your computer locks automatically. These are a defunct security standard usually on business laptops, not used much anymore but it's so small that a lot of laptops come with them anyway. In fact it's easy to not even realize it's there.

3) A proprietary expansion slot - HP in particular are known for putting special "expansion ports" just for HP devices. Perhaps this laptop is the same.

I'd bet it's probably #1.

HP Pavilion dv4000 PC Notebook Power jack problem

I am sure that power jack is a part of your mother board but you can also replace a new power jack for your mother board. I know that if you send it to HP they will charge you 398$ for repairing the notebook. I will give you a link from where you can purchase a power jack with a nominal price. You can fix it by yourself or you can go to any electronic shop for foxing this. It is as simple as soldering the new power jack on the mother board.

The web link is:
