The seal on my washer is deformed, and I found a tear on the inside of the rubber gasket. Is this a part that can be purchased and repairs done by me? Or do I have to have Kenmore repair it?
Fix ya..do it your self and save big,,im going to talk you through..and give you the part number...what you need is the bellows part # 8182119...ok vack unplug unit..open the door,,now you see the front lip of the bellow theres a wire with a spring stick a srew driver and pull off,,wire off ..ok now look in the unit right behind the front panel and in front of the tub in the upper right hand corner of tub font or bellows backside there a nut take screwdiver and losen pull bellows off,,easy to put back just reverse but open clamp a bit on back...onthejob
whirlpool and kenmore are the same ,,whirlpool make kenmore for sears alone,,but its a whirlpool machine..he3t and whirlpool duet are the same units...onthejob
put your model # in sears.com and look the part up..onthejob
ok you have a sears unit,,its there thats how i gave you the part number,,,ok then try a 1/4 in nut driver,,most of the time i just do it with a pair of pliers,,sslowly...just enough for the bellows to com off...when you have the big ring clip off then open it some so it will go on easier,,than tighten..keep me posted

Ok, I found the wire and the spring. The spring is at the bottom of the opening. However, I am having a problem finding the nut that you mention in the upper right hand corner of the tub. Do I have to remove the rubber bellows to see it?
I love the quick response, and I will look to see if I can find the part.
I looked up the part online, and it shows Whirlpool washers. I know they are similar, but how can I be sure?
I found the nut, but it doesn't work with a screw driver. It appears to be a fastener for a metal ring that hold the bellow in place. Also, it appears the part is not available online from Sears.
I got it off finally and found that the part number for my model is slightly different. Thank you so much for the help. How hard is it to reinstall the new Bellow? It appears easy, but how tight is it to put on? Is it like putting on a belt in a motor?
