I was given a JVC 60D501 Rear projection tv. This was due to the tv having what appears to be a Horizontal hold issue. The screen looks like the h hold is constantly jumping. so basically has what appears to be several of the same image in the various three color crts and the standard all in one multicolor picture all fluttering about from top to bottom with a slight vert scew as well. If this thing has a vert and h hold adjust ment I haven't been able to find it unless it is tide into the focus adjustment box located in the bottom from of the console in between two of the crt assemblies. Please help, would love to get this thing running. Or if anyone can direct me to a service manual would be great.
What do you mean jumping, or does the picture look like it is in 3-D?

There are convergence IC's most likely bad in this TV set. You will need to replace bothof the STK IC's. Good Luck
If they have STK392-### on them, then yes. These are suppose to get really hot though. You will also need to make sure you buy the right replacement STK IC's as all IC's, even with the same numbers are the same. Go to mcmelectronics.com and enter the entire number of the IC and order from there, as these are Sanyo IC's and the aftermarket replacement IC's do not have the name Sanyo on them. Also do not forget to apply a nice coat of heat sink compound on the backs of the new IC's before you replace them.
Sounds like a power issue now. Have you checked the voltages on the convergence IC's or in the main power regulator circuit? You will need a service manual and a multimeter to do this. I am wondering if now you have a regulator or power supply fluctuation.
You can get the factory service manual right from JVC. It seems this manual is not avaialable through a third party supplier. You can get one from here http://www.jvcservice.com/service/JPartI...

Well got the replacement focus pack but the h hold issue still there. I need an answer to this please. The focus pack did need replacing as now picture that can be seen is a lot clearer. But still jumping up and down.
Okay was tinkering with it again late this evening and got it to stop jumping so bad. cleaned the dust of the boards and now couple of transistors on the board that sit on the left when looking from back of tv don't seem to be getting as hot as before. Still not fixed though. Doesn't jump anywhere near as bad and this is even with running it for about 15 minutes. Can see more of the picture clearly almost no split colors now and the focus is completely better than before. So is this possibly an overheating issue for couple of the transistors or beginning of complete failure of them? If so which ones are most likely cause and what do they control? I also noticed that when left to sit and cool down for a while then turn back on it actually runs fine for about 2-3 minutes then picture jumps like crazy. Hopefully this will help narrow down my issue and, if I don't manage to fix it myself then someone can point me in the right direction.
Well it did look like kinda 3 d before but no just look like a regular crt with the h hold out. Picture takes up the whole screen but just wont stay still, kinda whole picture is moving around from top to bottom. Best way I can think to describe it right now is like a vcr tape being eaten up by the player you can see an image but is jumping around so much that you can't tell what it is.
Just to ensure I'm going to be replacing the right components then those would be located on the left board when look forward from the rear access panel right? And if so would they on the top right quadrant of the board? I'm fairly sure those are the ones you are referring to and are the ones that seemed to be overheating when I used a laser thermometer on them last night. I really do appreciate the assistance.
Perfect thank you very much. I'll post once get them ordered and replaced. Thanks again.
Replaced the the chips. But is still not working correctly. Doesn't seem to jump as much but the picture gets shorter from top to bottom after only about 3 minutes or so while still being very jumpy. I never notice the picture getting shorter/narrower before not sure if this was part of the issue before or if something I caused. I don't believe I caused it as replacing the chips went without any issues. But, ultimately is still jumping, just not as much and now can clearly notice the screen getting narrower on the horizontal plane. Vertical appears to not be impacted.
Unfortunately I don't have the service manual for it an the 20 + places I searched for it didn't have it either. Most just laughed at me when I asked. As for the issue on further tinkering with the TV. Found that yes the picture is better than it was prior to the IC chips being replaced, but only until the screen faults out again. I will eventually do the same thing it was originally doing prior to the replacement as well. If anyone can direct me to a service manual , that would be excellent. That is why I ended up here as I probably could have figured it out in the first place with the service manual but never could find one. So issue is better to a degree but same end result shows after about maybe 5-15 minutes as before. This really depends on if been playing with the unit prior or been sitting for a while.
Can anybody direct to me to a location to get a service manual for this model tv? I am still in need of a repair solution for this unit. since I have replaced the focus pack and now the ic chips I am still back to the same end result after it runs for a short while. I don't mind doing the work to repair it but I do not know anything about the circuitry on this system to be able to trace the issue without a service manual. Thanks in advance for any further assistance to getting this resolved.
Any chance of getting assistance with direction on where to get a service manual or what sort of ratings I'm looking for on what circuit or anything? I'm kinda stuck here without any information on these boards.
Been a week. So I guess I'm going to have to find an answer else where since nothing has worked. I'm sill in the same overall situation I was in when I started out here. And, still have not gotten any answers as to where to find a service manual since this unit seems to be relatively difficult to track one down for. And, considering that is the direction I'm being pointed. So is this the final answer of this site find a service manual? some sort of response from someone would be nice on this.
