Question about Alpine CDM-7854

Open Question

Aux Input I purchased the KCM-123B Mini-BUS to Mini Jack cable from Alpine. It is supposed to allow my MP3 player to play through the CDM-7854 receiver. I cannot get the unit to play anything except internal CD's and radio. How do I change the play mode to auxiliary (AUX) and play the input from the Mini-BUS cable? I have the manual, but there is no info on this. Thank you for you help. Mially

SOURCE: Alpine CDM 9801 side AUX input?

Hello bauersteven,

The Alpine CDM-9801 does have an "AUX" input. It requires the use of Alpine's optional cable, the KCM-122B. But most likely it connects in the back, not the side.

Even though that model is no longer in production, you can download a copy of the manual from Crutchfield.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Alpine CDA 9827 using aux mode with ipod shuffle via rca inputs

Unfortunately, the rca outputs are to control an amplifier or crossover. They do make an ipod adapter for that radio, which allows you to control the ipod through the radio. Best Buy or any Alpine dealer should carry something for around $25.

How do I get the MP3 player to work in a 2007 Nissan Quest?

you said CAN , i bet you meant CAN'T or CAN NOT. right?
the AUX port is just a line input, analog audio input,
it dont know MP3 .
it only amplies the analog audio found there.
you connect any device, to AUX. push play on the device.
then put car radio in to AUX input mode and play. the audio.
that is all there is to it.
the external device does all the heavy lifting, reading a file, and decoding it (mp3 decode) and then sends raw analog audio out.

the cable is sold and radioshack, or walfart or many other stores,
Target, most MP3 players, come with this cable,
they use mini phone plugs, stereo, type,. (3 contacts)

Ipod to alpine CDM-9821

Hello andrewbheber,

Your head unit is an Alpine "M-Bus" unit and has a proprietary connector for the AUX input. It requires a special cable from Alpine, the model KCM-123B..

Here's a link to the product. Click on the cable itself to see an image of what the connector on the back of your receiver looks like.

Hope this helps.

Want to know if I can use the line-level inputs from the CD Chgr

Your alpine unit is the old "M-BUS" the other adapter you are talking about is an "AI-BUS" adapter. (Hence the model numbers beginning with CD"M" or CD"A" ...)

Look for an Alpine M-Bus to RCA Input adapter.

heres one on eay for less than 10.00 including shipping.

Can I plug my MP3 player into the aux. socket on my car radio, with the appropriate cable and play the stored music?

You should be able to do that as long as you have the right cable.

Most of the mp3 players have a "mini-stereo" jack (3.5mm) and some car stereos have the same type of jack for "aux" input, and others car stereos have RCA jacks for the "aux" input.

Even if the jacks are not the same type, you can use an adapter cable that converts the mini-stereo jack to an RCA jack. You can find them at many places like Best Buy, Circuit City or Radio Shack.

Depending on the type of car stereo you have, you would normally press the source button to change between the tuner, cd player, aux or whatever you may have connected to the stereo. You may even have a seperate button to press for the "aux" input.

I hope this was helpful to you, if you need more information just ask, and please give more info on the type of mp3 player and the make and model number of the car stereo.
