IFP-i190TC Wipe out

I really screwed my iriver IFP-i190TC MP3 player up. I wiped up the firmware that I had and now I get the message "can not connect" everytime I plug in the usb cable. I have un-installed and re-installed the software. i have formated the drive.. tried to upload firmware using the "send to" option in my C drive. Nothing works. I really need help. Thanks

I can´t connect to my PC with my iRiver device (iFP-890) and Wi Vista 64 with SP1, not trough Music Manager or Explorer.
I´v followed the instructions above.

The software you need is called the iRiver Music Manager. This includes the drivers for your player. The link to download it is http://iriverinc.com/support/ultra/iFP-manager-pc.aspx . Just click the blue text that says "iriver Manager 3.16". Good luck!

You, should on a older (XP)-OS system update the firmware IFP-8XX.HEX (see iriver.com). The firmware transformate the player in a basic removablestation. The Iriver manager is not any longer operational (and not needed) W7 recognizes your new ermovable station and you can transfer anything you like.

Where can I get the driver and music manager for my IFP-799 ?

Hello,
iRiver IFP-799 is a IFP-700 series player.

Making transfers to the device can be done in either UMS or Manager mode.
UMS firmware matches with seeing the player as a removable disk in Windows Explorer and is also used for updating firmware, using iRiver PLUS software.
Manager firmware matches with iRiver Music Manager software.

When needing the Music Manager go to next site and enter the word
manager in the second column next to GO:

iriver music manager ( Ver. 3.21 ) shows up: click the item and read
the instructions for download and installation.

How to update the player's firmware

Getting music off Iriver

Bronte,
When you change your firmware from the "manager" version to e.g. the Firmware v1.85 UMS version, you will no longer need to use the iriver manager software to move mp3's around, you can just drop them on or from your iriver. The disadvantages are that:
1. by upgrading to the UMS version, you will wipe ALL your current music, so it will NOT help you right now, only after you have upgraded to the UMS version and placed mp3's on there again. The iriver will behave like an external thumb-drive, so you can use it on any PC without the iriver manager.
2. The UMS firmware will ONLY run in USB 1.0 speeds, so it will take up to 36 minutes to fill the iriver up with 1 GB of music (or in my case podcasts).
