Question about Toshiba TN43V71 43" Rear Projection Television
My tv just turn off on its own the other day and now when i try to turn the tv back on, i get no picture or sound. however the red blinker does come on. could this be a power supply problem? i have a few friends who have purchase the tv around the same time i did(1999) and they are experiencing the same problem.
Your set likely has a bad convergence ouput ic that has caused a fuse to blow. The convergence output ic type number is STK392-110. These can be replaced with STK392-120 or STK394-160. It is good practice to replace both ic's because the one that is not defectie now will likely fail soon. The fuse may be a small glass fuse or a pico fuse. One is for about +28V and the other is for about -28V. Also to the left of the heat sinks for the convergence output ic'S you will find (2)small wires that have black insulation on them. It is very possible that one or the other of these have bad solder connnections.

could you give me a rough estimate of how much it would cost to repair a problem like this? would you recommend this as a DIY or should professional technicians take matters?
We have the Toshiba model MD20P1 and it shut off in the middle of a show we were watching and when we try to turn it back on the little red little comes on and the picture shows up for a split second, but it will not stay on.
