Can't turn on Vivitar 4345 digital camera

I left my camera linked to my computer for a few hours via usb. When i removed the camera from the usb i realised that it wouldn't turn back on. I have tried changing the batteries, this didn't work. Now when i press the button to turn it on, the light on the back of the camera flashes 6 times and the camera doesn't turn on. I have tried connecting it to my computer and turning it on but the same thing happens. I have only had the camera for about a month and something like this hasn't happend before. Please can you help me.

Searching google groups shows others with problems after attaching Vivitar cameras to PC's & then not working. The only fix seems to be leaving the battery out until the camera resets itself. If you can get to the setup menu then try the "default" option to reset the camera to factory settings.

Trying to transfer pictures from camera to computor but unsuccessful. windows vista is operating system. please advise

Consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Hi,I went from Windows XP to Vista. Can I still download pics from my Vivitar 4345 Digital to computer? Thank you,Gina

Sure. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. And you won't have to update the card reader when you update your computer or get a new camera.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Vivtar 4345 wont turn back on!!!

Are you certain that when you plugged the camera back into the PC you switched the top icon to the wrench symbol? In order for the camera to communicate to the PC it should be on that symbol.

Cable for downloading to computer??

Try using a memory card in your camera and using a card reader to upload, its easier than using cables.

You do not need software really plug the camera in and It should be recognised as a new removable drive and Windows Scanner/Camera Wizard activates.

Urgent please

There are 2 probable solutions. 1. The images are "protected" by the camera & will show "locked" when you try to erase them. 2. The SD card in the camera is locked. The solution to 1 is to unlock the images in the playback menu. See page 45 of the manual. Solution 2 is to remove the card from the camera & check the "lock" slider that you can see on the side (although no all cards have this). Set the lock off. You can download the manual from the first link on the following page: http://www.retrevo.com/s/Vivitar-4345-Digital-Cameras-review-manual/id/200bh831/t/1-2/

Vivitar Vivicam 4345

Selecting the "format" option in the menu will wipe off your images. basically it reformats the memory card. I would get a card reader, if you havent done so already. I worked with a student today & for some reason we couldn't transfer images from his camera directly to computer via usb + we were getting some error messages when trying to do so. So, I ended up taking his memory card out & used a memory card reader to transfer the images to 'puter and it worked fine.
