I too have this problem . . . I would shoot for a little bit and then the video in the viewfinder has changed. The grass is no longer green but magenta. Certain colors that are not green (ie blue or yellow or whatever) are now green. It seems to do it randomly. I guess it could be heat (outdoor temperature) but not sure.

I got the vx1000 on bay and as soon as i turned it on, all I can see through the viewfinder is red, green, and blue colors rapidly flashing. I can see the image in the background but the colors are...

These have that problem . I would look on the wide cable comings from the 3 ccd assembly where it connects to the main board. They come loose at that point and need reconnecting. It's easy to break this connector! Be careful if you diy. Larry's Electronics [email protected] 916-362-8708

Where can i get a sony vx1000 for around 5000 bucks in good condidtion

Is there a reason you want the vx1000? They have updated this model several times as this unit came out in 1995. I am sure you could find one for that price being as they aren't even worth that much anymore. You can purchase a much better more modern camera from sony for your 5000$. If you check out ebay there are a bunch of them you can get one for about 700$ give or take.

My camcorder has an aura problems. it's bleeding green colors

It is an old model of 1995 and I'm sure it has problem of leaky electrolytic capacitors. You need to replace all electrolytic capacitors in this camcorder.

Sony Handycam DCR-VX1000

You have an intermittent problem that is probably an open as opposed to a "short". An open is when a connection(s) is not being made that needs to be, a short is when a connection(s) is made that shouldn't be.
Quite often the "open" is a solder connection or a plug in circuit board connection. The solution of tapping the side and the problem being temporally corrected is good news.
The bad news is you need an experienced Sony camcorder technician to handle this problem. Disassembling the camcorder, finding the problem, solving the problem, running the camcorder while apart to locate the problem and test for reliability, and the final reassembly is a delicate procedure. More damage, or worse fatal damage, may be done to the camcorder if the repair is not done improperly.
