The issue you might be expiriences may be caused by an incompobality of your operating system and the driver that's on the disk. To download the appropiate driver try searching here: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/480/3385
After downloading you should install your driver and it should work.
Check the camera settings are not too high 320x480 or similair should be enough.
Have you installed Windows Messenger live, the new MSN and tried it with that?

If this is definately a compatability problem, you should take the cam back and exchange for a compatible one before you have had it too long to exchange.
Ask the shop advice and if there is still a problem then atleast it's the shops fault in advising you wrongly.
