Canon PowerSHot A85

My Canon Powershot will not show anything but dark grey in the viewfinder or monitor. The saved pictures show up fine and it takes a picture (nothing but grey) ...any ideas? It's not the batteries and I reseated the card along with reformatting but no luck.

I turn on my Kodak Z712 IS and the screen is dark - I don't see anything - just replaced battery - I can see review pictures but I can't see in screen what I want to take a picture of.

Have you tried pressing the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

Blank screen

Sounds like you accidentally pressed the DISP (Display) button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the screen on and off in picture taking mode to save battery power. You could then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn it back on, just the DISP button one more time.
