Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-60WF655 60" Rear Projection HDTV
You might try replacing the bulb before you go digging into the guts of your unit. It will cost you a couple hundred for the bulb but it's much easier to replace...

There is a lamp driver error in your TV set. Most likely the ballast circuit for the bulb. Depending on who you take the set to, you will pay anywhere from 300 to 500 bucks to have this set repaired. This is why i recommend an extended warranty on all of these types of TV sets. This repair will involve replacing a board, and it could be one out of three of the differant boards that control the lamp. good Luck.

No, you will need to get the service manual, and trace out the circuit, and find the ballast . You do not check the voltage to the bulb, but to the Ballast circuit. If the input voltage is bad, find out why, if the input circuit is good, you will need to change the board with the ballast on it. Again you will need to invest in a service manual and know how to use it. If you cannot read a schematic diagram, you will need to take this set into a repair shop.

Can I ohm out this bulb? If so, what would be the proper ohm range? Also, how many volts should I have coming to the molex fitting for the lamp? thanks...
