Re: easyshare 5500 prints very light even after cartridge...
Please call 1.800.421.6699 and select option 01 for prints missing black or color ink. Kodak will send you a replacement printhead kit for free. I hope this helps.

if you already tried a deep clean and there is no improvement on the printout then you need to buy a new printhead for your printer but if there is an improvement then do another deep clean until you get an acceptable print.
Usually when you install new cartridges, the printer print an alignment sheet. in case if the printer isn't printing the colors okay, you can try cleaning the cartridges by going to the printer drivers, goto the control panel--->printers and faxes--->rt click the printer icon and goto properties, under properties there should be an option for either maintenance or service this device button, when you click it ,it gives an option for aligning the cartridges, you can also goto the printing preferences and it allows you to adjust the color there is an option to clean ink cartridges
if the red light is still flashing then try and reseat both the ink cartridges and print head and make sure you use genuine kodak ink cartridges as there are retailers selling look alike and refilled ink cartridges.......if still the same problem then print head problem call kodak tech support they will replace it for you without any charge........
You need a new print head. Don't buy one, though. Phone Kodak (India) and get a new head. Or throw the stupid machine away. Kodak should be sued for producing such poor quality ****.
Hi!
You'll need to call KODAK to get a new printhead. The # is 1.800.421.6699. This is a very common issue, and they will give you a new printhead and a set of new ink.
Sounds like the print head is either clogged or the replacement cartridges you purchased are dry/defective. Try performing a head cleaning cycle and check the cartridges for proper ink flow. To do this, pull the cartridges out and blot them on a paper towel. If the color flows fine from the cartridge, then most likely there is dried ink in the actual printhead and it will need to be cleaned.
Check this out and see if it corrects your issues.
