I have a Canon ip 4000 and it blinks orange 12 times nothing has worked as I have just replaced the old with the new cartridges please can anyone help me I have tried the one when you have to hold both buttons down then turn on then push button twice while still holing one down and then pushing 4 times nothing seems to work
For 11 orange flashes (Canon doesn't list 12) Canon says its an automatic print head alignment error: -make sure ink tanks are snapped in correctly http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SuprtKnowledgeBaseAct&fcategoryid=184&modelid=10438 -place 8.5 x 11 paper in the automatic sheet feeder, anything smaller will cause this error. -Remove the printer from strong light; apparently a sensor in the paper output slot can be affected. -Also you said you replaced all the cartridges with new ones, were the new from HP? If not I would definitely try replacing them all.

Forget the link, it doesn't work. This is the info I wanted you to see:
Refer to the following steps to verify the ink tanks are seated correctly:
After confirming that the printer is powered on, open the paper output tray.
Open the top cover and wait until the print head moves to the center.
Open the inner cover and check that ink tanks are properly seated.

Hi there,
It sounds like the cartridge or one of the tanks may not be properly seated.
Pull out and then reinsert the ink tanks. Make sure they CLICK in firmly. Hold down the RESUME button for 5 seconds.

Hope this helps.
