Preamp/Processor missing menus/options for DTS

The setup menus / options are not appearing as detailed in the manual. When I play a movie recorded in Dolby Digital, it works fine but not with a movie recorded in DTS, it is not recognized. Could the software have been changed?

Solved the recognition of DTS signal issue but the DTS options/settings in the menus are still not appearing - believe the previous owner may have upgraded the software. The solution for the DTS signal recognition was an output setting on the DVD (blu-ray) player - digital output vs analog.

Hi, I have a KRF-4060D receiver and my problem is, that however the receiver is set to auto detecting, when I start a dts movie, the receiver does not recognize it as a a dts signal. could you please...

What DOES it detect instead - analog or Dolby Digital? If the former, the digital bitstream is not being seen at all - check the digital audio-bearing cabling.

If the latter ---

As dangerously loud undecoded digital bitstream [hash] "noise will be produced when a DTS source is played by selecting the analog input", the DTS soundtrack is not necessarily the default for a movie soundtrack and may need to be manually selected under the movie's own Audio Setup menus.

No audio playing blu ray movie. previews on same disk play audio. using digital audio coaxial cable

I'm guessing there's an unnamed BluRay player in here somewhere. IT has audio settings and each movie might also have setups for the Main Feature. Previews and menus are always in the lowest common audio denominator.

This unit can only accept Doby-Digital or PCM digital audio. DTS, for example, is not supported.

As it says on page 4, "Read instructions carefully when connecting components to the receiver."

Read the Blu-Ray manual.

I have a Yamaha RX-V663. I recently upgraded to 7.1, but the 6th and 7th speakers do not activate on DTS HD Master Audio Blu rays. The 6th and 7th speakers do activate on DTS True HD, DTS EX - ES,...

Hello,
It is unclear to me as to what you mean when you say they do not activate. Does that mean that they just don't play, or does it mean that your receiver doesn't show them on the display? If your not hearing the sound from the speakers, are you sure your dvd movie is capable of outputting 7.1 or is it only 5.1?
If the receiver doesn't show the speakers on the display, try running through the speaker setup again to make sure you selected both sides and rears for the setup.

DTS option shows on the display when playing a DTS movie, but unit will only play in Dolby when trying to select listen mode...I can't select DTS mode

That is a typical function of the movie you are watching..changing the sound mode can "usually" only be done by selecting it on the disc, or by using the audio button on your player depending on the model.

Mine wont play anything a DVD it recorded it wont let me finalize

Today with HD High Definition TV these kind of problems appears because the new dvd players have more video resolution options, so, for playing all variety of dvd, and home done dvs,s (like family movies on dvd) you need set up your resolution video on your DVD player at 480i or 480p option, not higher because some DVD movies (mainly oldies) have lower resolution than newer , for example new movies on HD format have 1080 P resolution, and if you have this option chosen in your DVD player you only can see this kind of videos, on the other hand if you have chosen 480i or 480 p on your dvd player , you can play all dvd formats including home movies made with any movie software, in this way you can play dvd-r and +r movies and of cours you can play HD movies also. So put some dvd where your dvd player works well (you need see the dvd menu in the tv screen), then press stop. Then press setup in your remote control, go to video resolution and choose 480 I or 480p, then press ok AND ENJOY THE MOVIE.

Sibilant output from Pioneer VSX 1018 AH-S

Suspect a DTS board capacitor failures the ESR characteristics.

To troubleshoot connected any available device to RCA stereo connections at input to multi channel in. Test input to the corresponding speaker output confirming audio quality. This circuit bi-passes the DTS function and connects to the power amplifier for the speaker.

Connect any audio amplifier from the preamp out and confirm the quality of the audio.

I suspect that the pre-amp out will contain the distortedf noise. If the distrotion appears in all the channels it is most likely the DTS.

These are repairable.

Hope this helps?

How to play dts/dolby digital on HK AVR5

I believe he avr-5 has 6 channel inputs, what you will need is a dolby digital 5.1 and DTS outboard surround sound processor, say an item as the Technics SH-AC500 decoder, a Harman Kardon Signature 2.1 DTS version outboard processor/preamp, and many others on the market by different manufactors, Run the discrete audio outputs from the Processor into the AVR 5`s 6 channel inputs, select 6 channel input or DVD inputs on the receivers selector and your good to go. Be sure you are playing Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS encoded material.

Not showing DTS MASTEr OR DG True HD

In the menu is an option for switching master and true hd on. Standard its of and played als normal dts/dolby.

also: check the input (blu ray?): maybe it is set to only output no high def signals, so the amlifier doest recieve hd sound..
