Question about Samsung LN-R409D 40 in. LCD Television
Split your cable out of the wall twice. One will go to your cable box; ultimately going to box and out to hdmi cable. 2, from splitter, connect a second cable straight to the back of the tv and the pip will light up and then you can view two screens

My experience with an LE40R74BDX is that PIP is only available between the different input types of 1:- VGA, 2:- HDMI and 3:- everything else. It is not available between any 2 items in the everything else category. So you must have at least one of the other input types in use (I use HBMI for my cable box). Hope this reassures you, it's down to design not a fault.

I have the same problem with the PIP, but so far i read about this type of TV it says that it has only one TV tuner so PIP is not active with only 1 tuner u need 2 or more to have this option, i would try with the component plug ins like described below and ill write if that ones help.
