Question about Dell E207WFP LCD Monitor

Small crack in the LCD - should there be any picture at all?

I was given the monitor with a small crack at one corner of the LCD panel. When the monitor is turned on the screen brightens a little, and won't do anything else. If the only problem is the LCD panel, then maybe it'll be worth fixing if I can ever find a cheap replacement, so... Should the screen be blank when the monitor's on, or does the monitor probably have some other problem? Or do I just not have enough data to tell?

The menu button doesn't seem to do anything. There is a vertical band of slightly-lighter-screen-area, about 3cm wide, that slowly moves from one side of the screen to the other, and if I press the button to the left of the menu button the band jumps to the center of the display.
(There are four buttons - from right to left: '+', '-', a menu button, and a button that has a monitor-like box with an arrow pointing into it.)

I dropped my dell notebook on the floor. The screen is 80% frozen however when I turn it off and reboot I can tell from the little corner I can see that the computer function but the screen stays stuck....

Try connecting an external monitor to your laptop via the 15 pin VGA connector located on the left side of the laptop. If the laptop display is normal on the external monitor then most likely your LCD (liquid crystal display) panel is damaged and needs to be replaced. The spider web effect is due to cracked display panel.

My lcd screen does not come on when I start my laptop.

What I am hearing is that your computer turnjs on but the lcd screen is black? Can you make sure all the status lights are on? (battery, adapter, and on your laptop system.) If all the lights are on, check your lcd screen's resolution setting...Press the buttons that brightens the screen. One, two or three times should get it going. If the contrast buttons do not turn your lcd on, it could be the monitor itself. (One other thing...check for any Visible damages on the screen, ie. cracks or missing pixels (if you can see)...

How do I open a samsung 740N LCD Monitor

Lift the front frame. You must try to lift it from the inner side using your fingers (no tools , you may scratch the lcd panel). A little force is necessary especially at the corners. Once you lift the panel from all four sides then the corners will come out.

Note: A common problem with this monitor is the psu. A small number of capacitors fails. You will notice 3 electrolytic capacitors have been deformed and if there is no power you will find a small 3A fuse (looks like a resistor) blown.

This is embarassing

Not certain for this monitor, but most LCD monitors seem to have a bezel that slides upwards to remove.

If removing the small screws allows you to lift the bottom edge of the bezel, then I'm pretty sure that's how it will work - put it face up on a desk or your lap with the screen upwards, lift the edge fo the bezel a little and push the two nearest corners away from you at the top (the left and right bottom corners as you would look at the monitor on your desk). The bezel should slide maye an inch, come off the clips and then lift right off.

Hope that helps.

Black out in corner of screen is growing

If You see that black spot while monitor is off then the LCD needs to be replace. if not then check these....
Check the LCD panel (push a little bit from the black spot place if it loose colours then may be it is due to the improper connection with panel board.( check the voltage while changing the screen resolution, if everything is ok then......
LCD pixels burned. replace the LCD panel or if u want to use it as it is then decrease the brightness and don't use high resolution images.

Broken Monitor

Hi Roeder, I have never heard of an LCD screen cracking from anything other than physical force, this is a first for me. It is possible since there is high voltage power in there for the backlight. In light of the sound I suspect a component failed, generated lots of heat real quick and caused the crack/failure. This is really unusual and you might try calling Gateway to see if they will replace it, especially if it is one year or less old. I would resist all temptation to open the LCD till you call Gateway. If they will replace it they won?t be happy to find you opened the case. Let us know how it works out and please don?t forget to rate this post.
