I have a Sony rear projection TV and the power light blinks 6 times. I read the repair/schematic manual and it says that it is a
Low B OCP/OVP
problem and the cause is
? +5 line is overloaded. (A, B Boards)
? +5 line is shorted. (A, B Boards)
Well now that i know that is the problem how do i fix it!!!
Do the A/B boards need to be replaced or should i try lower the color voltage settings on the TV?? I am totally clueless as to what to do and I cannot afford $600 to fix this tv! Someone please help!!!
I replaced the A board and still no go.. The 'B' board looks like its brand new, no scorch marks, broken solder, popped caps nothing. If anyone has any clue what it would be please let me know, this is getting really expensive.I replaced the A board and still no go.. Nspect the bottom of these boards for cold solder joints with a magnifier & resolder
suspect pins, also check the capacitors on
the board, if they are little silver smd
type look for yellowish liquid to be present
around one or several of them, you need to replace, either of the above could be your
solution.

Eight blinks points to an audio output problem.
The unit goes
to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp,
PS401, and 402. On some projection models of Sony TV sets, this code
means that T8005 (flyback
transformer), or the associative
components in the high voltage circuits are defective on the D board.
Nine Blinks- Replace D6116 and D6301 on the "G" board, do not solder as this will fix the problem temporary. Or Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing, then change the switching regulator on the "G" board or check connections. Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negative).
Well, it's DEFINITELY the High Voltage power supply is DEAD! Won't start up...or goes into OVERVOLTAGE SHUTDOWN....
Most of the time it's overvoltage problems...
The KEY to knowing which one is actually occurring is the amount of time it takes before the 6 blinks occur...
A DEAD HV circuit takes a lot of time, while the OVERVOLTAGE will take less than 40 seconds for it to register the 6 blink code....
In this case (overvoltage) replacing the HV oscillator/regulator IC is mandatory...
A dead HV circuit could be anything in the HV circuit, from the Regulator IC to the HV splitter...
It's really wiser to consult a TV technician on this....
When a Sony TV flashes five times, that means that there is an AKB circuit fault. Six blinks is also a fault related to video problems, and regards a fault concerning the digital board and the Jungle IC (the main CPU).
This means that there is something wrong with the video.
Try first unplugging power for few hours, if that does not work, call a
technician, as several IC and components must be tested and eventually
replaced.
I believe the problem is either in the G board ( power supply) or the D Board ( high voltage) as the 3 blinks indicate the G board, and 7 indicates the D board and 6 indicates the +5 line a and b boards. So with that many codes its most likely the G board (power supply) You can get a new replacement G board at the following link which comes with free tech support to help you plug the baord in which is very easy. Its listed under the Sony parts category and its the A-1316-566-A sony G board, Here is the link. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
