I have a little 15 yr old gal that is blind from diabeties so see need to stay close to back door for her 'duties', i have a ramp for her to go down but being a lit ole she doesn't always make it to the ground, so the ramp 'gets it' and when she does get off the ramp she does it right there, i have been pretty faithful in picking up poop, but this is 'urine' any ideas, i put leaves and couple weeks blew them away and put fresh, it worked at first but isn't now, so i have bare ground trying to let it dry out. someone told me lime and i have some but just wanted as many ideas as i can get. thanks roxanne - 'ms middle's' mom
Hydrated lime, or quick lime, available at most farmer's supply stores or garden centers will neutralize the acid in the soil. This is a problem with female dogs in general. A male will put his scent down without a problem but, the urine of a female is more acidic and will kill the grass. If you don't have access to the lime, just make sure you rinse the area down every day or two, it will help.
Putting down leaves will kill the grass. It is like putting mulch around plants to prevent weeds.
