usually this happens when lens cannot read the the disc. Due to few reason
1 Your disk is scratched
2 Your DVD lens is covered with dust
3 You need to replace DVD lens Try another few CD/DVD to rectify whether there is any problem with dvd you are trying to play
if this error occurs on all the dvd you played then the most likely proble is with your DVD lens
either its coverd with dust use Disk cleaner if not you got to replace a new DVD lense as per model
The problem is you need to replace the laser assembly if the disc is spinning and not being read, or if the disc isnt spinning, you need to replace the mpeg printed circuit board attached to the laser assembly. Good Luck.
it can be two possibilities.
1)either the disk is faulty.check out in another player or drive and confirm whether the disk is properly working.
2)or the lens in the drive which reads the disk is either faulty or got dusty.in the electronics shop you get lens cleaning cd.insert that in your drive and play it.it will spin for a period of time and stop.then insert your dvd disk and check out if the same problem.then drive inner lens is faulty and needs replacement.
This is a typical problem when the laser " eye" gets dust on it, unplug the unit and you can try to remove cover and spray the optical pickup "eye' with canned compressed air or other type of optical cleaner found at say like radio shacks, I have solved many disc reading errors with this method
Given that you have checked the owners manual for possible solutions & have tried more than one DVD, then the problem sounds like corrupted software in the player. You should return the unit for a replacement.
