Possible that the alignment of the DOOR is not correct as it might be rubbing against the lock and switch. You need to remove the front panel and reset the lock and switch to solve this fault. Check for broken plastic parts which can be glued back.

Clean the inside edge of the door and oven where it contacts the door. Grease or oil is preventing the door to swing open.

H5460NO/01 door lock is not working

test this steps and fix it. God bless you

  1. Open leverCheck your microwave lever to determine if it is damaged. If it is broken, simply replace the lever to get your microwave door fully functional again.
  2. Door springResponsible for keeping downward pressure on the door hook, the microwave door spring can begin to malfunction. If this part is broken and prevents you from opening your microwave door, replacement is necessary.
  3. Door latchOne reason your microwave door may not open properly is a broken door latch. Located inside the microwave, the door latch manipulates the door hook to keep the door closed for safety and top performance. If broken, the door could become stuck in the locked position.
  4. Door hookIf your microwave door will not release properly, the door hook could be damaged. Located inside the door, the door hook is made of plastic and prone to breakage with extended use or age. As this part is unable to be repaired, the only option is to replace it.
  5. Button or button springIf the microwave door will not open, it could be an internal failure of the button or button spring. If it is determined that either of these parts is the source, both are replaceable and it is recommended that they be installed at the same time.
  6. Handle actuatorIf the microwave door will not open the plastic handle actuator could be broken. Connected between the door button and the door latch assembly, this plastic part could become damaged and brittle over time, which makes breaking inevitable. If this occurs, replace the handle actuator to get your microwave fully functional again.

Jenn air microwave loose door

Most if not all of these units have a safety switch--can't get at it from the outside---if unit is taken apart it often is snapped into a plastic holder and prevents the unit from working if door is open.

If it is loose or not engaged completely the unit will do what you are describing.

The push button to open the door does not engage door, so door does not open

in most cases this is due to a snapped of push bar as they are made of plastic its a common fault. if the push bar is not snapped then its lost a plug that holds it in. as the microwave holds a constant 1000 watts of power i always recommend to people to have them fixed by lic techs the repair cost for this fault is around $ 100 if the part is still available

Door

What usually breaks is the door open lever.

On a counter top model, the outer cover will need to be removed to diagnose and repair this. On an over-the-range model, only the control panel needs to be removed.

Please unplug the oven first.

If you or someone you know wants to look into this, we have critical safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Once it is apart, you'll be able to see how the door open button would press against the door open lever, which would then lift up against the door latch heads (hook-like projections on the door) and the door should open.

If you reply back to this with your brand and model number, we can steer you toward a part source, and possibly toward exploded view diagrams, etc.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

All my micros had the screw go through the handle into the micro...no need to take door apart, just screw it back in. Why would you need to take the door apart?
