I don't know if your problem has been solved yet, however try resetting the unit back to default settings. Normally any user changes (like auto-opening the screen on accessories on/off) will be lost or corrupted once the battery is disconnected...

Re:
Check your fuses. The "spark" created when hooking up your battery may have"blown" it.
You may also have a "fuseable" link blown. These are not easy to spot. Anything else quit working?
Next look to see if the power lead to the DVD is disconnected under the hood.
Sounded to me at first as if it didn't work at all. No power. But you say it has power, just won't open. If you disconnect power and re-connect it does that fix it?Sounded to me at first as if it didn't work at all. No power. But you say it has power, just won't open. Re:
You may have blown a fuse when you changed to battery. You might want to check the back of the player for a blow fuse, you may also want to check your cars fuse panel.

i have the brain and wires for the exact model i had it a month before someone ripped the screen out of the reciver.. it still plays cds and radio so i know the rest is fine i have all of the wires and harnesses.. 200$ [email protected]
hi there
on the back of this unit is a green brake wire you need to buy a 3 pined toggle switch ...........you need to take a small but mid size length speaker wire and attach to 12v (red wire) going into back of kenwood unit add another speaker wire to the ground wire (black wire) of kenwood unit... now on the 3 pined toggle switch add the power speaker wire to the toggle switch add the ground speaker wire to the toggle switch once this is done add the green wire to the last toggle switch pin........put the kenwood unit back in dash.......now turn the car and toggle switch on...........put in a DVD and if screen shows DVD all is done...... but if the screen does not show the DVD......just switch the green wire with the black wire on the toggle switch and now it should work
hope this helps
Have Kenwood KVT-717DVT.
It will uncurl and open screen and show only one screen. It's on "standby". The one screen shows the touch buttons "Audio", "Set Up" and "SRC". These touch button will not perform any functions.
