Press and hold the RHYTHM button until the display flashes. The factory default settings are restored and all the settings you have made are erased.

Sr576 standby light blinking

Most likely, you have DC Offset(a bad amplifier). The unit is shutting down to protect your speaker system, as well as protect the unit from any further damage. If you require more assistance, or would like to inquire about repairing your Onkyo, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. You may contact me there. Thank you.

Turns itself off when turn on by me

This is a protection circuit that prevents the tv from coming on (to stop damage of the components) ....you need to check your voltages off the power supply and make sure they all read well (EX: 24v12v5v etc). Also look for popped capacitors that would make the values lower than need be for the tv to power on properly.

Once you repair the power supply then you may need to replace other components if needed (EX: backlight inverter)!

Please rate if this helps! :D

Replacing capacitors is ALWAYS the cheaper option, but you need to have experience it, or you'll create more damage than good!

No heat and turns itself off after 4 secs

1)Turning itself off can be as a result of the sensor getting feedback of not enough ventilation.Ensure unit is able to breathe by bringing it away from the wall to allow airflow. If that doesn't fix it THEN>>>>>

2) The Magnatron which is the heart of the unit is damaged and so the sensor reads overload and shuts down as a protection against fire.

Repair of the magnatron often exceeds the value of the machine and in your case is not worth repairing. You can buy used ones and refurbished trade ins cheaper than your repair costs will be

Engine light comes on

Hi there!

P1299 Cylinder head over temperature protection active.

I would want to know why this is overheating. It could be a fuel issue, timing is too advanced (due to faulty sensors) or just a duff temperature sensor itself.

Needs investigation though as performance will be affected.

(If this assists in a solution, please rate as Fixya! Thanks.)

Need help

'Protected' usually appears on amps or combined cd/amp units when the main processor detects a short circuit in the speaker connections and the unit goes into 'protect' mode to stop further damage.Check the speaker connections. You may then need to reset the unit by holding the power switch in for a few seconds while powering on the mains cord for example. Sony A/V amps are notorious for this issue.

Need help

I have this stereo and so do 2 friends. We've all had the same problem but I turned my stereo into a certified repair shop and they fixed the problem. I think something on one of the PCB's inside the unit misaligned. I didn't pay more than $50 for the repair. There was no major repair they told me.
