Lightning power surge kv-36fs13 sony fd trinitron wega 36 inch
We had a lightning scare which messed up the tv. The picture looks dark and the people look like a negative. It only effects 2/3'rds of the screen. I have the schematic and i'm ready to try to fix the problem. Can you give me an idea of what to do. Yours sincerely, Dave

You may have had a slight voltage spike either just before losing power (posible lightning strike?) or after power was restored. May be as simple as a blown fuse. If you can check yourself it should be located in the incoming power line; if you can take it to a repair shop most can find and fix cheaper than a new TV but will charge a diagnosis fee of about $50.00 to $75.00.
There may have been some problem in the horiontal transistor. Also, Check for the zener diode that controls the supply going to the flyback. It might got busted due to the sudden supply surge.
