Power up okay with logo screen, and after takening picture no picture on screen

I power up camera, logo shows with no problems. I look at the viewer screen at the object that I'm about to take a picture of and nothing is displayed. I take the picture and reviewed the picture that I just took and nothing is displayed. I then took the CD card out of my camera and looked at it on my computer and nothing was on the card. So the camera is not taking pictures and writing them on the memory card. I need your help. I've missed taking pictures at special events this past month. Please help..... John Keith

Canon technical support is the place to go. There has been a recall with some camera because of a faulty CCD This may be one of them - check it out.

Black screen on my canon S3 Si camera

This sounds like a common image sensor failure. Unfortunately Canon stopped fixing this problem over a year ago. Parts are NLA.

Nothing or black screen shows up when pic is taken

The problem is with the software in the camera! So take your camera to the nearby service center and do a format of your camera! That will fix your problem. Also check whether there is any problem in ur LCD screen!

My viewing screen is black when trying to take a picture but when viewing pics I have already taken the screen is fine and show the pics..any idea what is wrong?

You need to go into the setup menu and turn on the display. This is sometimes turned off when you use the optical viewer or in low power modes. Your user manual will show you how to do this step by step.

My camera is not showing through Viewer or display screen, not able to take pictures...... My display screen works fine to view old pictures taken..What could be the problem?

It sounds bad ccd imager chip in your Canon camera and ccd imager chip will be replaced to get live view in camera mode to take pictures.
Canon offers free of cost repair for few models with same problem, click Canon CCD Imager Advisory for details and ask Canon for free repair of your camera.
Thanks.

No picture for Canon SD100 Powershot

See this link. This Canon service notice is effective world wide, and if Canon determines that your problem is due to a CCD image sensor failure (yours are the classic symptoms), they will repair your camera at no cost, regardless of warranty status.

Camera stopped taking pictures.

well, I followed some other advice for another's problem. The suggestion was that the display button had been accidentally pushed. This was right on! I kind of thought it was something like that. I was asking my wife and kids if anybody had pushed any buttons. Never happened before. Kind of embarrassing, but the computer makes these cameras so complicated. My old eyes can barely see all the logos on that little screen. Thanks for being there, guys!

Very, very dark (almost black) lcd screen, but is functional

The LCD viewer is made up of the LCD screen, and the backlight. Your backlight is burnt out, or the circuit board isn't sending power to it. Backlights can be replaced separately.

Fuji Finepix split screen

If the picture taken from digicam are ok when viewed from a computer, the lcd viewer has a loose connection or defective already, if you can open your unit, try to disconnect and reconnect the lcd flexwire inside.
