Iron causing electrical fuse to trip

I have a Tefal Pro Express steam iron. Lately when i plug it in to any electrical point it causes a trip in my main house fuse box. Is it the iron at fault and if so how can it be remedied?

I would almost definitely say yes. Have a friend or family member bring their iron over and try it. I can think of no other reason why it would trip a breaker. Let me know what happens.

Plug iron in but its dead

follow the next steps and fix it. God bless you
If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents and flush sediment out of the steam chamber .
If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical cord +thermical fuse with VOM . Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat (

I'mnot getting any steam from my tefal steam iron.

Please bring your unit or call a service center accredited by manufacturer of your unit. The temperature needs some adjustment inside the unit. Check also if the unit has electric power and hope you do not forget putting water in the steam.

I have a Tefal Pro Express Turbo iron (purchased in 2005). In the past 2 days the steam is constantly on - the button does not appear to be stuck. I can't get the steam to stop... unless I take out...

Yes, if your electric cord was extremely hot to touch is not common. It's posing danger to your unit and to your entire electrical system that may cause fire. Please let a qualified electrician inspect and repair your unit. The unit thermal fuse may not functioning that automatically switch off or cut the electric power of your unit when it gets too hot. Thank you for asking.

Tefal Pro Express - Constant Steam (Model 2932)

Great answer from Jacquief above. To which I add try giving the base of the iron and its button, a very light tapping with a tack hammer (much smaller and lighter than a standard hammer) wrapped in a tea-towel. This can often break up the lime scale seal which has formed somewhere inside and is not responding to Jacquief's method. In future never use scale laden tap water in your iron, use $2 litre bottles of distilled water from any supermarket.

Tefal Pro Express Steam Generator doesn't.

OK... so I have fixed my problem of NO STEAM, just lots of water coming out of the iron press plate itself... I had already cleaned the boiler, so I tried adding 1/4 tsp - 1/2 tsp bicarbonate soda to the water and flushing it through. From what came out of the iron press plate, I would say the problem was caused by a build up of goop (technical term) inside the iron. Once cleared, the iron is steaming away again. Please note, u will need to have an old towel handy if this is ur problem, 'cos until it starts getting better, there is a fair amount of water coming out of the iron press plate. Just add the bicarb to the water reserve and use the steam buttons to bring the bicarb through. Do not attempt to iron clothing with the bicarb in the water!!! Carolyn ;)
