KP-43T70 is a CRT based rear projector and does not use a Lamp like newer LCD/DLP projectors. It uses 3 (Red, Green, Blue) glycol liquid cooled CRT's (like the picture tubes of yesteryear) to produce the image/light as opposed to a Lamp.
Two ways to get CC, if using a cable or sat box it should have this feature----in the menu for the TV there should be a item for captions---once you select it try CC1 which is the most common one of cc1-cc4-----if on the wrong one no cc.
If you find that menu and get it working many sets there have a setting so the captions will only appear if the sound is muted and not all the time----look for that one also.
Depending of what model of TV you have, the option to turn off the Closed Captioning is usually found in the MAIN MENU under the heading of AUDIO OPTIONS.
Look in the AUDIO OPTIONS menu and try to find where it says CAPTION VISION, or CC1, or CC2, or XDS, or TEXT1, or something similar for the display setting, then switch that to OFF.
Otherwise look on your remote control for a button to turn off the Closed Captioning (CC).
It may be a button called DISPLAY, and you just press that repeatedly until DISPLAY OFF appears on the screen.
If you provide the exact MODEL NUMBER for your TV next time in your question, more precise instructions can be provided in order to help you out.
Now use the INFO or DISPLAY button on the remote to activate the closed captioning.
It should say something like CC1 ON once you get it right.
That should be about it.
Note that not every single channel has closed captioning for every single show and that the words usually take a few seconds to show up on the screen when you change to a new channel.
Good luck, hope this helps. Keep us updated on your progress.
Press the Display button on the remote several times until Caption Vision appears. See page 16 of this manual for info about Caption Vision:
See page 20+ for info about Setup menu and Caption vision menu.
CALL SONY NUMBER SHOULD BE UNDER SUPPORT ON YOUR MENU SYSTEM MIGHT NEED SOFTWARE UPGRADE THEY CAN SEND YOU ONE SHOULD HAVE USB INTERFACE. ALSO IF YOU ARE ON CABLE TRY RESCANNING CHANNELS IF YOUR ON SATELLITE MAKE SURE CC IS IS SET ON, ON SAT REC
go into the menu for your tv or look for button that says cc or closed captioning or audio and turn closed capt off---keep trying each opt until its off if it just says cc1 cc2 cc3- cc- if have off opt just choose off..hope helps
