Same problem. I applied pressure to the extended lens by slightly twisting it from side to side. Hit the power button and the lens retracted and then extended again. The camera seems to be working properly.

The lens is out and wont go back in.. gettin an error message 126, 1,0, -7

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

Lens error 126, 1, 0,0

This is probably THE most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Lens error, Restart camera

This error message is displayed when a malfunction occurs in the lens. Sometimes it can be a manufacturing fault other times it may be due to a grit of sand in a gear, or damage to a barrel. The only remedy is to have a service centre inspect it for you. It is most probable that the lens will need to be replaced. Good luck!

Lens error 126,1,0,-9

Mine said error code 126, 1, 0-9 but it was just bent so I had to bend it back, now it works fine.

Lens Error

Unfortunately this Canon SX100 (and the SX110 too) has a very fragile lens assembly. Once you have this lens error problem, there are only four solutions: 1) If it's under warranty, contact Canon to make it valid; 2) If not, then have a repair center to replace the lens assembly (either the internal lens motor or the gears are damaged) or, 3) Sell it for parts or 4) send it to the trash can.

Lens Error, Restart

Hi

What you are seeing is a generic stuck lens error message, turning off the camera and turning it on again will not fix the lens unfortunately.

Your lens needs to be cleaned or repaired, and if it cant be repaired it needs to be replaced. There are online places that will do it for a decent price and there are others that overcharge by way too much.

Fixya rules prevent me from giving you a link to anything off Fixya that would help you fix your camera.

Good luck from....
