How do I download from my Dowson video camera to my computer without all the jerking problems?

As this is part of a home security system, you may find more assistance by posting in a forum dealing with such equipment.

Check the wires from the cameras to dvr. Animal may have chewed thru them.

Problem solved... all I needed to do was install it's software on another laptop, plugged camera into the usb and it worked like new, so for some reason it just started conflicting with certain programs on the two previous laptops that I attempted to use it on but now it's all good, thanks.

Do you have a separate recorder on that system?

If the videos were shot in AVCHD lite, you must download them to the PHOTOfunSTUDIO software that came with the camera.

You might want to consider NOT using a driver. The best way to download videos and pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy videos and pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any video/photo cataloging program, such as Windows Movie Maker and Windows Photo Gallery.
