Please define "reformat". A reformat to me means a complete "renewal" of both hard drive and op sys. If you agree, then windows did not detect your sound card during re-install. Open device manager and look for ant yellow markings next to the list of the sound system drivers. Those markings are telling you there is a driver problem, so proceed to update the drivers for each device. (for help-post back). If no devices exist in the list, then you must do the following: 1.) if secondary "plug-in" sound card, power down, remove card, power up to windows, shut down windows, plug in card, start windows. 2.) if MOBO-based sound, open BIOS screen at startup and ensure that all options are enabled for sound.

almost there? you've got to help here...which type of sound system is on this pc...plug-in type or motherboard resident type or don't you know? in worst case, if you know nothing about this pc, you can always re-install the operating system to restore the sound system.

Hello,
Have you installed the driver for it? Look for the DVD that came with it and install it. After installing the driver, update it. You can use RadarSync to automate the updating process of your computer.

I have purchased a peavey pv 6 (not the usb) and I have a squeal problem when I activate the tape to mix button and rising the master fader to 0 and my headphone volume. I am using a creative soundblaster...

You MUST turn off the echo from the computer OR remove the sound card to line in connections. The tape out goes through the sound card and immediately back out to the tape in and around it goes for feedback.

This is the active mixer error message... --------------------------- Volume Control --------------------------- There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel,...

NO active mixer is one of the volume control, your sound card or your audio port is not installed. try to install again your motherboard installer and locate for the audio of it of for the soundcard. Then after that restart and when the sounds come then you successfully installed it

Ii have a message ' no active mixer device'

If a reboot does not fix this error, you may have faulty, incomplete driver information, windows is known for this at times.

uninstall your sound drivers from the hardware console, then reboot the PC and re-install them.

to get to the hardware console:

XP
right-click on " my computer " > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > sound, video and game controllers

Vista / Windows 7
start > right-click on " my computer " > Properties > " Device manager > sound, video and game controllers

I cannot hear any thing frm my laptop .

Hannah6338,
It "sounds" like, (pun intended) the drivers or software that control your sound is not installed, or not installed properly.

I can help you with this, however, I will need some more information. Can you tell me the model of your pc? How about the sound card manufacturer and model? I will also need your operating system.

No sound or mixer devices

a. your sound device may be built right in to your motherboard (make sure it's enabled in your bios)
b. you probably don't have installed any drivers for your sound device- install drivers by going into the motherboard manufacturer or your computer manufacturer.. post details and will help you look for them

No active mixer's

Hello annointed,
The mixer should have installed during the install of your audio software.
If you have your Acer CD you can load your CD & look for the driver folder & open it. Find Audio or Sound folder.
Re-install your driver software.
You can open the link below that will open Acer's PDF file that contains your audio software. Depending on which sound device you have in your notebook.
Acer sucks at maintaining the correct drivers for their model no#.
Though you can find the Aspire 5570-2609 notebook, Acer does not list their driver's as 5570-269. They only list Aspire 5500-5570. For the 5570 click here & goto pg. 2
