I have tried 3 different memory cards and not one of them will work. It says card is locked and nothing even moving the sliding part on side of card works.
Any ideas out there please.
Do you have a computer that will read the "memoery cards"? Try reading the cards. If there is nothing on the card you still should get a message telling you the status.
Check the setup of the camera. Some cameras allow you to lock the memory card from setup memu. You might also need to "format" the card before you use them.
Refering to page 138-139 of the maunal, try "formatting" the cards before using them. Make sure the "slid lock" on the card is in the "unlocked" position. Format using the camera not a computer under "setup tab".
You might also try turning the "protect files" to "off" until you get the cards to work.
Hope this solves your problem.Look in your manual:

Check your memory cards. If you are using SD cards, there is a small slide-lock on the side of card. Move the slide away from the LOCK icon, re-insert the card in the camera, being careful not to cause the slide to move again, and you should be able to use the card normally.
Hi due to so many questions asked about this here it is. How to deal with memory card locked/write protected error.
SOLUTION 1 - Unlock the memory card.
There is a Lock switch on the left side of the SD card. Make sure the Lock switch is slid up (unlock position). You will not be able to modify or delete the contents on the memory card if it is locked.
SOLUTION 2 - Toggle the lock switch.
If the lock switch is not on lock: 1. Slide the switch up and down. Repeat this 3 times. 2. Let it stay on the Lock position for 30 seconds. 3. Slide the switch up to unlock the card. 4. Try to transfer files into the device.
For non-SD cards: Format the card
The data on the memory card may be corrupted.
WARNING: Formatting will delete all the files in the device. Backup all your data before formatting. Memory card write protected, memory card locked, memory card will not read, can't use memory card.
SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". There are also other common causes if moving the slide switch didn't help, with troubleshooting steps for this problem listed here.

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common cause is having the tiny slide switch on the side of the card in the wrong position. The second most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out (note 2GB or less standard SD cards. These are very inexpensive these days, and are available on Amazon if your local store no longer carries them). There are also other common causes if the above didn't help, with troubleshooting steps for this problem listed here.
I don't own this camera but My guess is your memory card is in a LOCK SETTING you need to move the memory card to unlocked " wrirte " so you memory card isn't locked.....
Step 1 remove the card from you're camera
Step 2 there is a small little side on the side of the memory chip move that to the unlock position.
step 3 insert the card and start shooting!
on the side of the memory card theres a little slide thats normally a differant colour to the rest of the card just move this slide to its other position
I had the same problem and it took me forever to figure it out! On my memory card there is a tiny slider that slides up and down. Mine was slid to "lock" I just slid it back and it was no longer locked! Sounds simple enough now that you know, huh?
