Cook top indicator lights stay on long after it has cooled off. The largest cook circle sometimes doesn't reduce heat when the dial is changed

Cook top indicator light will stay on as long as the stove is hot I think. Also, the burners don't heat real steady? or evenly or true to their settings even, quite often. they also take a really long time to cool down as well as to adjust temperatures, so it may just be that it is taking an awfully long time for it to cool down in order to adjust.

Smooth top stove

Hi,

If aluminum foil is stuck to the element, you might try turning oven temperature to highest setting for a while to see if the heat will cause the remaining foil to burn off the element. If it is a self-cleaning oven, perhaps the extreme heat will incinerate the foil during the cleaning operation. Another option might be to heat oven at low heat, wear heat proof mitt, and try to gently scrape away aluminum foil. If in doubt, contact your manufacturer and/or repair person.

It is always best to refer to owner's manual for operation, maintenance, and cleaning instructions.

quote.gif --> You might try using a rasor blade. Just be sure to keep the blade flat against the glass surface and scrape gently.

Is there anything else i can help you with??

If you are satisfied with my solution then please don't forget to rate me as fixya..

Burner only cooks on high heat.

You need the switch for that burner. The contacts inside are stuck together. You will need to pull the unit and separate the glass from the lower body to access it. To get the right switch you need full model and serial number located on a plate at the bottom of the unit.

Your ability to perform this is dependent on how mechanical you are. The Whole unit must be removed from the counter opening and the base unscrewed from the glass, remove knobs before disassembling. For someone mechanical this is not difficult. De-energize whole unit first.

Once the two pieces are separated the remainder is mechanically easier. Disassemble the box on right containing the switches and replace the correct one. Reverse the process for reassembly. Good Luck

G.E Profile gas cook top #JGP640 ignitor.

It is sparking because the module does not sense the heat which would normally cause the sparking to stop.

It can be caused by a poor ground, make sure the ignitor at that burner is clean and free from any obstructions. If it is then it could either be a defective ignitor or spark module.

GE profile performance electric cook top is not producing enough heat in the front burners.

Confirm there is 240 VAC powering the unit (make sure a breaker has not tripped or a fuse blown.).

Did the burners ever produce enough heat?

If yes, then we can look deeper. If no, then the burners may not be adequate for your cooking style. Burners are like light bulbs. A 60 watt bulb will put out more light than a 40 watt bulb. A 100 watt bulb will put out more light than a 60.
Typically, a small burner will provide less cooking heat than a large burner.

Downdraft Slide-In Range

I have the radiant cooktop (i.e., glass top) version of this range. I've had this same problem since I first purchased this unit. I wondered why no one answered this question, as I check back to see from time to time. I finally contacted Jenn-Air's online support. My conversation was as follows (I'm not entirely sure that the tech support knew what she was talking about, but here you go anyway):

message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool Cidalia C: Hi, my name is Cidalia C. How may I help you?
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool You: Hello!
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool You: I have a question regarding my "Downdraft Radiant Cooktop"
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool Cidalia C: Thank you for contacting Jenn-Air today with your inquiry. What is your question please?
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool You: None of my burners can simmer-- no matter what the setting, they will boil water!
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool You: Is there an adjustment that can be made to attenuate the heat?
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool Cidalia C: What is the model number of your cook top please
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool You: JED8430ADB
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool Cidalia C: Thank you. In looking at your burner configuration, the smallest wattage on your unit is 1200. And, unfortunately, there is no way to get a small wattage for your burners. We apologize for the inconvenience.
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool You: Yes, but the dials are supposed to prevent the full 1200 watts from reaching the burner unless it's on maximum heat, correct?
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool Cidalia C: Yes, but the burners do not get low enough to be considered simmer burners.
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool Cidalia C: Did you have any other questions or concerns today?
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool You: I suppose not.
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool Cidalia C: Thank you for contacting Jenn-Air. Have a good day!
