BIG TROUBLE with my 52" Phillips Magnavox Rear Projection Tv, HELP!!

Im having problems with my tv! My husband just bought this tv from a friend a few months ago and the 'friend' told my husband that it was still working good, bunch of crock! We never got a manual so we're not sure what model it is, all we do know is that its 52" and that its a Phillips Magnavox Rear Projection TV. We had problems from the getgo with this TV! When we first turned the TV on the pictures on screen had some kind of 'white haze' over it. We could barely see anything. We tried to tweek it by lightening the picture but, that didnt work. Now the matters gotten worse!! Everything onscreen has a green, blue or both haze behind it: pictures, words, everything. My husband and I would like to know what to do and how much it would cost to have this fixed and is it really worth it?! Please HELP!!!

Recently, when you turn on my TV, there is a colored arc that appears at the bottom of the screen and all the images seem doubled. It's not happening every time, but is occurring more often now. What's happening and how do to fix this?

We have had our 52" phillips magnavox rear projection tv for 3 years and we

went to the beach for 2 days. When we returned from the beach trip we turned the tv on, it came on and there was sound but the color was all messed up. The green and red was way out of wack especially on the left side. My husband tried everything he could think of to fix it, he worked with the multi-conversion (little crosses) he took the back off and dusted the inside, tried adjusting the color over and over and it didn't fix it at all. His brother had the same problem about 1 month later, he had the same tv as us. If anyone finds a solution to the problem, please post it so maybe we can get them fixed. HELP!!!

It sounds like the 3 "GUNS" are not aligned.
One the controls at the bottom, left hand side You will see an arrow pointing to the first 2 on the left.
That will allow you to scroll down the list of options until you see....CONVERGANCE!
make the red gun center by using the up/down arrows on right. Then add the next 2 until you see a white X or cross.
Thats it!

Your problem points to a convergence problem. There are actually 3 separate projectors in this TV, one for each primary color. These projectors have to be carefully aligned to one another, otherwise the colors do not fall in the same place on the screen. This alignment can be disturbed by simply moving the set. I would think that this is worth fixing, but you will need a technician who is experienced in this kind of work. You may also have dirty optics which may cause the white fuzzies. Some sets have liquid cooled projectors, & the liquid can become contaminated. Hire a reputable TV repair service & ask for a written estimate before any work is done. It may help to call a dealer of these type of sets & ask for their recommendations of service companies.
