Question about Epson Stylus CX3810 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I suggest scan from MS Paint first - if this works proceed to step 1, if not, proceed to step2.
Step1, check device manager - update driver.
Step2, check if there are other scanner installed or software installed under C:Windows/twain_32 folder. Delete any files there except for wiatwain.ds and folders that has "e" at the beggining. Re launched Epson Scan. If it fails check step3.
Step3, trash and reinstall driver, you can download the driver for this on the epson site, www.epson.com, select your regio of course, go to drivers and support, select your product and select the appropriate system that your using.
Step4, Optional step, on the properties of Epson Scan (you'll see this if you right click Epson Scan icon), make sure that the compatibility corresponds to your system, you'll see a check box there that says "Run with..."
If this steps fails, perform registry adjustment by removing Epson Scan software under the HKEY_CURRENT USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, reinstall software again.

I had the same problem on XP with SP3. The scanner hadn't been installed properly.
I solved it by going to the control panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management. Then look under "Device manager" -> "Imaging Devices" If you see a yellow question mark over the Epson Device then right-click on it and choose install. Let Windows install it automatically.
That should be it. Try the scan application again.

Hi,
just switch on the scanner before you switch on your PC. This will correct the error.
" seems strange is it??" but it worked !!!!!

I have the same problem with a CX3650, no matter in wich order I switch on scanner/PC. My PC is a Compaq presario V5000 with Windows XP dontknwowhatservicepack.
I have read in another forum that perhaps the problem can be solved disabling USB 2.0 in the BIOS of the PC. I will try, and will tell you if it is of any help.

Do you think this has anything to do with the windows xp service packs? Because my brother had windows xp SP1 and he can use the epson scanner, but after I updated it to service pack 2, that irrating error message pops up again.
exactlyu the same problem, for a long time. I am not sure at what point it stopped, but it did work with XP SP2. Driver was reinstalled
