EBay is the best place for this type of thing. It's way cheaper than any laptop depot I've come across. Here's one for your keyboard: http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-Vaio-Laptop-Keyboard-VGN-T140P-HMB991-D01-NR_W0QQitemZ320137022753QQihZ011QQcategoryZ140084QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem As far as the screen is concerned; the way to get the best deal is to search by model number of the screen and not just laptop. The same screen can be used in several different laptops. Take your screen out and look on the back of it. There will be a model number there. Enter that model number into ebay's search, making sure you check product description to be included in the search query. Any screen matching that model number will fit your laptop just perfectly and it will save you a bundle.

I have a sony vaio vgn fs980 laptop. all of a sudden the keyboard stop working. i purchased a new keyboard. However the same problem exists. I can use an external keyboard that will work fine but the...

On every computer motherboard there is what's called a UART chip. This chip is responsible for capturing every keyboard click, interpreting what letter it is, converting it to zeros or ones used by computers, and sending it to the processor for action. If this chip fails, even replacing the keyboard won't fix it.
Unfortunately this chip is usually part of the motherboard so the only way to replace it is to replace the motherboard, which usually isn't cheap. If you can live with the external keyboard you might want to stay with that. Otherwise, if you Google sony Vaio motherboards, I'm sure you can find a number of sources online to purchase a motherboard. Replacing one is tricky but not insurmountable if you take your time and can follow directions, also available online.
Best of luck! Hope this helps!

If you do decide to go with eBay for a new keyboard make sure you purchase one from a "Power Seller" and read their feedback too.

Good luck.
