Flickering grid of blue squares on the screen

I have a Samsung 46" DLP model number HL-R4667W. On every source, with different connection cables, there is a full-screen grid of blue flickering squares. It distorts the entire screen image and is especially noticeable over dark colors. If I unplug the source, I am left with the screen saying that there is no input detected, but the grid is gone. It's the same story with an HD signal over HDMI, with my DVD using component video, and with a game concole using plain AV or component. I haven't been able to find a single answer to this problem.

Keep getting a blue screen. Avery so often the picture switches to a blue screen and than picture comes back and than a few minutes later a blue screen. Thank You

Sounds like a problem with source recognition. Could have a problem with input coming into the tv such as cable connection problem, loose wires, etc. Try reseting the cable box and removing and reinstalling all of the cables in the back and the cable box.

Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board. This is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors. When it starts to fail it will create black bars, pixelation, color distortion or white dots on screens. Here's a video that will help you find where the DMd chip is located : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jr_9A5Xd2Q Have a blessed one!

Picture is scrambled after power surge. Have a

Check if it has a scrambled image on all sources ie - DVD- VCR - cable/satellite box. Since the PIP is normal it sounds like the signal source is bad.
Post back with more info about your set up (what's hooked to your TV) if you need more info

DLP HL-R4667W Resolution 1080

notice it states 'hdtv ready', not 'hdtv'! probably need a converter or upgrade module to get 1080p! read the 'gotchas' in the owners manual!
Good Luck!

Samsung HL-R4667 DLP There are about 6 vertical bands (usually all the same color) running top-to-bottom and within these vertical bands is a picture trying to come in. The screen behind the bands is...

needs a DM Board, prity easy to change yourself, if you order one, make sure you give them the version number off the Right side of the TV, will be somthing like SP01, To change - when you take the back off the tv, it will be on the left hand side, have to unplug 3 or 4 connectors, then take the plastic covering off, and it will slide out.
