ty techman I will try your solution, with caution. BEfore i start i will write down all the current settings. My Email is [email protected] By the way I am not an electrician. That part looks like an computer chip, does it just snap in or does it ned soldering to the board.

Confused on where you stand now with this set. And what Chassis is this? AEDP812 or what? Did you change resistors when replacing Convergence amps? Where there any solder bridges?

Did you get the manual from techman, and did his solution work? If not, can you explain what you tried and what condition the set is in now, and I'll see if I can help out any.

Mistacork, I have to agree with tvtek, you most likely have a problem in the convergence circuit. Most likely the correction amp IC's, But if you want to go into the service mode, I can send you a manual very close to yours and this will explain how to go in and adjust, but let me caution you. This is very dangerous to do if you do not know where you are, what you are adjusting, and if you do not write down anything before you change it. The service mode is not a simple place to piddle around in, it can ruin your set if you make a wrong adjustment. Leave your e-mail and I will forward it to you. Good Luck

These are two IC's about 2" by 3". Standing up and mounted to a large metal plate called a heat sink. These are soldered into place on the printed circuit board. They will have on them white letters thats says STK-392-150 or another three letters at the end, I forgot. But If I were you, I would replace these IC's or have them replaced before messing with the service menu, as you could throw out the entire alignment and then when you do get the unit repaired, it will take a lot of time to readjust. The service menu is only for slight touch ups and if parts are changed. Any drastic changes in the alignment is a true indication of a part failure. The service menu is not a cure all or will not fix all the problems, as a lot of people are told by others. A little knowledge can be dangerous in this case. If you do not know how to solder, maybe a friend or neighbor knows how to work on printed circuit boards. Good Luck, and I will send that manual. It will not be your set, but the service menu will be in there.

I sent you the proper manual this time, via your e-mail. I did not realize how off the last manual I sent you was.

If you replaced the IC's, where did you get the replacement IC's from? Do the replacement IC's have the name Sanyo on them? if not, that's your problem, you purchased aftermarket second rated IC's. Also you need to double check your soldering work on the IC's as it sounds like there may be a solder bridge or two.

Most likely you have a convergence IC that has failed and possibly a resistor or two. The IC's should be STK392-150's in this set. If you have severe line bowing I would look into one of these IC's being bad before alignment is done.

Here is the link to the user manual if you need it; http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/PT47WX42F.PDF Check page 37/38 of the pdf file for convergence adjustment instructions. Page 39-41 for other colour adjustments. If none of those work, check if you have any other electrical items near the set that affect the picture if you move them or turn them off. maybe in another room. Hope this helps, please ask again if not:)

Red, Green convergence lines are wavy

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Panasonic Model No. PT-47WX42F

Replace the convergence amps. That unit takes two Sanyo STK392-110 and you could use 150's for greater reliability. Also replace one or more of the 1.2 ohm resistors in the yoke return circuit out front of the amps.

47wx42 - wavy red and green "bars" on top and bottom of screen

Replacing the two STK392-110 ICs didn't do it for me. But you can try. I am experiencing the same problem, and it appears that is not possible to correct the problem with the ajustments in Service Mode. Please let me know if you find a solution to this problem. TIA.
