Sounds like the power pin is loose. I fixed one on my Z505 Sony and on my S6210 Fujitsu. The part is only 5 bucks but the labor at most shops is over 200 bucks. OUCH!

I finally figured out that tugging and pulling on the cable was what caused the pin to fail. Got a JerkStopper and haven't had a problem since I installed it.

Is it a power adapter that you bought later? if so... it may be the wrong one... power adapters come in so many varietys amd ampages, very often you get one not powerful enough. i had a computer that needed 6.2 amps, and an adapter that was only giving 3.5 or something.

if it isnt anything to do with that, there is a click that acts as a contact/holder power cord inney thinger. try sticking something such as a clip (preferably with electrical tape around it... to avoid any risk of shock from left over battery juice) in there and bending it out a bit. but this is at best a short term sollution.

you might just need a new jack in the back, so to speak.

go warrenty? lol.

How did you check the power adaptor? Are there any LEDs turning on or any noise coming from the laptop when you try to turn it on?

My computer wont turn on but the low battery keeps blinking (one of the symbol things under the keyboard) and when I try to charge it it wont charge.

First, you need to make sure your power adapter is providing enough power to both run the laptop & charge the battery. A very good way to do this is to compare your laptop voltage & ampere requirements (written on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop) with the voltage & ampere ratings of the power adapter. Voltages should be the same, or the power adapter's voltage about up to 0.5 volts more than the laptop's voltage rating. Amperage of the power adapter should be at least equal to or greater than the laptop's rating. It should never be less than the laptop's rating, or else the power adapter will be providing insufficient amperes to charge the battery. Of course, the power adapter's nominal amperage might be ok, but it degraded on usage. You can verify this by testing using a good or new power adapter.
If the battery did not charge using the new power adapter, take the battery off the laptop, & using a dry tooth brush, scrub in between the fins of the battery connector on the motherboard & on the battery it self, then put the battery back into the laptop & try again.
If this still did not resolve the problem, then the battery itself could be bad. Try it on another laptop, or try a good or new battery in your laptop.
If this did not work, there might be a possibility that the charging circuitry on the laptop's motherboard is defective & needs servicing. In order to do this, the laptop needs to be disassembled & the motherboard checked for defective/burned out components in the area near the DC jack. Any defective/burned out components found should be replaced, or you might need to replace the laptop's motherboard altogether

Acer 5920 aspire wont start

1. Remove laptop battery, optical drive, hard drive and ram. Remove external peripherals as well.

2. Make sure AC Adapter is not yet connected to the laptop. Pressand hold on the laptop’s power button for 10 seconds to drain the powerflea.

3. Connect the AC Adapter for laptop to a known good power outlet, check ACAdapter power LED if it is on. Try to sense if AC Adapter is not makinga bit of noise when it is plugin to the wall power outlet.

4. Connect now the AC Adapter tothe laptop. Check if AC Adapter LED stays on when it is connected tothe laptop. If the LED stays on means the AC Adapter is fine. If the ACAdapter LED turned off check the AC Adapter pin that goes to the laptopAC socket if it is loose.

5. If AC Adapter stays on after connecting to the laptop try topower on laptop. If no power LED comes on then this is motherboardproblem.

6. Before replacing the motherboard there is one checking needs todo. If you can open your laptop bottom part then good, do this whenlaptop is not connected to any power source. Try to reseat the laptopCMOS battery then try to power on laptop after, if still fails thenreplace motherboard. I hope this helps.

Battery wont charge and laptop wont start using

Check the pin inside the connection (end of the cord) which you put into your machine, or check if the power connection on the circuitboard is damaged (you are able to wiggle it a little bit around)

Dell computer use the pin inside the connection from the adapter to recognise if the adapter you are using is a dell adapter or not. If the pin is damaged, or you are using an adapter from another brand. You will not be able to charge, but only power your pc.

There could be a problem with the battery. A fast check to determine whether you have a problem with the power adapter, power cord or the laptop's battery is to turn off the laptop, remove the battery, connect the power adapter, turn on the laptop & see if it works.
If the laptop works directly from the power adapter with the battery removed, then the power adapter is good. In this case we can suspect that the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.
