Question about Mitsubishi WS-48613 48" Rear Projection Television
We are experiencing a problem with our 46" Misubishi TV, which is about 6 years old. While in the OFF position, the TV will randomly turn on. This is happening frequently during the day and lately in the middle of the night. When the TV turns on, it is on the Antena A position (where we did not leave it), it is on a different channel than we left it, and it is blaring loud! Also, while we are watching TV in the Cable S-Vid mode, it will sometimes switch over to the Antena A position and a different channel, in the middle of our program. Please advise if this is a known problem. Also, is it something worth fixing?
The front panel on this set has a history of bad switches and is more than likely the problem. To find out, disconnect the switch assembly and use the remote to operate the set. To find the plugs for the control panel: Remove the speaker grill and front panel, then follow the wire to the connection. Unplug it. If the set returns to normal then you can either replace the switches or leave it like that and just use the remote. Since the front panel indicator light will be disabled, you will have to remember to let the set reinitialize one and a half minutes before turning on the set after reattaching the AC Cord. If it continues: Check for a picture tube leaking on the boards. You may find an oily type of liquid on the boards and if so, unplug the set and call a servicer. Another cause may be the remote. Remove the batteries. If you have any other questions, reply to this solution and I will respond.
