Camara locks up

My Vivitar 5340 is locking up when i turn it on. I need to pull battery to get restarted. Also the auto focus does not seem to work anymore. Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong?

The camera automatically captures an image of whatever it's aiming at when turned on, and freezes up with none of the buttons working. It can't even be turned off. You have to remove the battery to make it turn off. After several tries at turning it on, it finally works again, at least so far this has worked. It sometimes takes about ten times of turning it on and freezing before it finally turns on and works.

I've had my camera for about a year, and the last several months when I take a picture the camera freezes up. The only way to un-freeze it is to take out the battery and re-start the camera. Then I can take only one picture before going through the whole process again. A new issue I'm having as of today is that when I hooked my camera up to my computer the newest pictures that I've taken aren't even showing up! I have a new baby so pictures are very important in our household. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Seems it could be a firmware problem You will have to go to the Vivitar Technical Support Team, on the Vivitar web site.

My vivitar vivicam 8025 has been charging for a while and it wont turn on with out the charger . when connected to the charger and turned on it says MSDC on a blue screen.

Make sure the battery is in the camara correctly. I had the problem with the blue screen and MSDC showing and it would not hold a charge. the battery has to be in correctly. It will go in wrong and look right so match up the silver three marks on the battery to the three marks inside the camara where the battery goes. It worked after i did that. Hope this helps!!!

My lens will not focus or shoot a picture. It will on manual but will not focus but at least I can take a shot in manual. when its on auto the lens will do nothing. It won't focus or take a picture. Its...

I have the same problem. I can make it temporarily work by manually turning the focus ring until it is out fully. Then it will auto focus and take photos until I turn the camera off or it times out. Then I have to repeat the process. It's annoying, but at least it works for me. Try it and post to let me know if it works for you

Auto key lock locks every 10 secs despite changing settings off

First, do a power cycle. By turning your phone off for 10-20 seconds. Turn back on, follow these steps: . Put the auto key lock as fast as possible, so that the phone would turn off it's screen faster.

# Phone Settings > Security > Auto Key Lock > Change your time from this menu. It maybe saying 10 seconds now.

The reason this was set this way, was to conserve battery life. You can view: http://rukikenishiro.com/2008/04/how-to-save-battery-life-on-lg-ku990.html

Vivicam 8400

I have a ViviCam 8400 and have the same problem UNLESS I buy Duracell Power Pix or Energizer Titanium batteries. These cost more than the regular grade AA batteries, but when I used brand new regular batteries, the camera would turn on for 2 seconds then turn right off. Titanium or Power Pix batteries make the camera work fine. And, because they are made for digital media, they do allow you to use the camera for longer periods of time.

Auto focus

there should be a tiny little switch on the lens that shows 'AF' and 'MF'.  Make sure it is on 'AF' for auto-focus.  Also, is the lens rotating and locking fully?

Focus Problem

Low light focus lock can be a problem with this camera. But in normal or bright light there should be no problem with auto focus lock. If this is a new problem, you should check to see if a setting has been changed. With so many options, it is easy to accidently set something that causes unusual results (been there, done that). First ... Go to the Setup Menu and see that the "All Reset" option is selected. This will cause everything to be reset to factory default each time you power-on the camera. Turn the camera off and then turn the camera on. Then take some test photos to see if your auto-focus-lock is improved. If that works, there is no need to check the items below. If that does not work, here are some control changes to try. Remember if you turn off the camera everything gets reset. That camera uses contrast detection for auto focus and it is normally set to "Multi-Area Auto Focus". Try changing it to "Spot Auto Focus" and do some tests, including with the camera set to one of the programs or manual mode. There is another setting called "Autofocus Area", you should investigate. Check your manual to determine what you can do with this control. There is another control called something like "continuous auto focus". Check the manual for further information. If none of the above help, it is time to see about some camera repairs.
