This is an old electro-mechanical pinball. Some of these will not light up or make any sound when the A/C cord is plugged in until the red start button is pressed (while there is a non-zero value on the credit wheel). Most, however, will at least light up when plugged in. The first thing to check is the fuse on the power line. If power is getting past the fuse then as long as the credit meter is non-zero and you press the red start button it should do something. If you need help I suggest you go online to a pinball forum like www.pinside.com and ask for help. There are many people on these kind of sites that are willing to give online help.
I have the same pinball machine. Mine also has the same symptoms. There are two red circuit breaker/fuses underneath next to the power switch. If I reset one or both of those it usually starts back up..
